Go with Teins S Tech instead of coilovers. It will drop your car by 1.2" front and .9" rear. Ride feels stock on surface streets you can only tell the difference when your on the freeway. The S Tech is about $150-160 / set not a bad setup considering the price. Coilovers are more pricey if you only want to drop your ride by 1". But then again that's your ride so do what you want this is just a suggestion. I had my Teins since last September and I love it.

I say go for the RS-R srings... linear vs. progressive. I think the S-tech are progressive while the RS-R's are linear... May want to look into it but on a personal note I prefer linear over progressive setups...
Re: Lowering a coupe....what shoudl I get?
excuse my ignorance, but what's the difference between linear and progressive? is there noticeable difference in handling or drivablity?

"what's the difference between linear and progressive"
If you imagine the spring compression mapped against the force required on a graph, the terms will make sense. The plot of the linear spring will be a straight line, meaning that each inch of compression requires an additional X amount of force. So say 100lbs compresses 1 inch, 200lbs for 2 and so on.
A progressive spring will look exponential, so each inch you compress gets progressively more difficult. 100lbs for the first inch, but then 300lbs for 2 inches and 700lbs for 3 inches.
As for how they would affect handling, here's where my ignorance shows. My guess is that progressive springs would be more supple on smaller bumps than linear springs, but more harsh on larger bumps and require more body roll to support the car in aggressive turning. Can someone explain this? Also, do our cars come with progressive or linear springs?
