Eagle F-1 GS-D3

I've read the reviews on Tire Rack but would like to hear it from G owners. How are they? My top three critera NOT in order of improtance (cause I can't seem to chose any one over the other, they are all important) are:

Handling/Grip
Road Noise
Wear

I'd like to get about 30k out of these. Is that realistic for mildly aggressive driving?

My second tire choice looks like its tie between the Toyo Proxes T1-S and the Bridgestone Pole Positions.

Oh, the size I'm looking for is 245-35-19 F and 275-35-19 R.

Can't wait for my wheels!!!! I'm running out of patience!!!!

Fantastic tire in all the areas you are looking for...except 30K. IMHO you will be hard pressed to find any ultra high perfromance tire go that far.

Re: Eagle F-1 GS-D3

I'm thinking about them to. But few owner review's about soft sidewall's is turning me off. It's the Goodyears or S-03's for me. But their out of stock on my size of S-03's.

Man, I don't know how many threads I've posted this in, but the soft sidewall thing is BS. I'll say it again, I've autocrossed on these in over 10 events and they've held up incredibly. If they had as much flex as some few people have lead everyone to believe, I would have rolled them off my rims several times by now. These are grade A, first class tires on wet and dry. There are close to 400 reviews on tirerack.com and they're the highest rated tires on their site, hands down.

Re: Eagle F-1 GS-D3

I've had the S03's in 245/40/19s on my sedan and they were pretty awesome. They are very (and I mean very) quiet. I drive ~85% highway and I could have gotten 28, perhaps 30K on them. Great tire.

I just got the gs-d3's for my coupe in 245/35/19 and 275/35/19"s. My comparison is no doubt affected by the differences in car itself, as well as the different tire sizes. The d3's are about the same or slightly quieter than the stock pilots. Perhaps it's the 35 series on the coupe v. 40 on the sedan, but I've noticed that the d3's do not feel like they roll over on their sidewalls like the S03's did on my sedan. 35 psi on the coupe per factory recommendation and 30 psi on the sedan. Again, there are several factors that may contribute to this feel besides the tires themselves.

I would have gotten the S03's again but the d3's have better reviews in both wear and wet performance so I gave them a shot. I've not been disappointed so far.

Thanks guys. That seals the deal for me. I knew what I wanted but just like getting the nod from my fellow forum mates to make me feel good before I buy.

Re: Eagle F-1 GS-D3

yes...but are they as good as the pilots in the snow????
only kidding...don't kill me : ) : )
I read alot of review on the GD'S .....I've always had good luck with them......probably my first choice as well when the time comes.....all the cars i've owned with Bridgestones handled great in the begining...but performance and handling seemed to fad away with the mile...2old4this

Re: Eagle F-1 GS-D3

Well, there's one thing to take note of.. you don't want to drive aggressively in this car at 30psi on any tire. I kick 'em up to 40 front/38 rear for autocross days, and back down to 32-35 for daily driving. These are the oem Bridgestones, but any tire requires a little more air for aggressive driving than for highway cruising.

I imagine any tire would have sidewall flex issues at 30psi or lower.

Re: Eagle F-1 GS-D3

i agree with Ryoken, I run 45 lbs rear and 47 lbs hot pressure front (51 psi max) daily. I notice a good ride quality compared to the stock goodyear GS-D's (non F1), road noise is very acceptable, perhaps a tad louder than the stockers were. FYI i run 225/55's on the stock sedan wheels. I have 1300 miles on them so far so no tread wear predictions yet. Dry straightline traction is on par with some "street slicks" i have driven, cornering is above that of the Pilot Sport A/S's I drove in the 235/50/17 size I owned in a previous car.

Only downside I have noticed: You can't drift with these easily at 45 -50 mph around 90 degree turns. They stick too well.

there is a fuzzy feeling at the limit but it may still be a "new tire" thing where I just haven't learned the limit. I am experienced at high speed driving, but I have zero experience with this tire on a track. Hit me up next week as I will be putting these tires thru their paces on a road course at 100+ mph Sunday

Re: Eagle F-1 GS-D3

One last question. What about the weight on these three tire choices. Which is lightest?

Re: Eagle F-1 GS-D3

Actually one more. This is directed to 3point5SE_Auto's post. You mention you are running non-F1s. I didn't realize there was a non F1. What is the difference between the two?

Re: Eagle F-1 GS-D3

the lightest is most likly the Toyos they are know for being super light. The heveyest is most likly the SO-3s they are know for being super heavy. I dont know this for sure but thats what i would guess. the Goodyears are probaly lighter then the SO-3s but more then the Toyos.

Re: Eagle F-1 GS-D3

my stock tires were Goodyear GS-D's, my current tires are Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's. with all the letters and numbers I wanted to try to clarify the difference between my stock and current tires. I guess I failed.

Re: Eagle F-1 GS-D3

It is kinda confusing.

There is the Eagle GS-D, which is the summer performance tire that comes on some Sedans from the factory.

There is the Eagle F1 GS-D3, which is a maximum-performance summer tire. This is Goodyear's high-end performance street tire, and is a notch or two above the GS-D in that respect.. at the cost of treadwear and ride comfort/noise. Though I hear the comfort level is actually pretty good for a max performance tire.
