Re: Final Decision For New Tires For 19's Please Help!

So this is the final word. Do I go 245/40 or 35-19 or 255/40 or 25???? Are 40 jsut as good in performance and that low profile aggressive sports look? Or on a straight performance rim go 35?? Thanks Martin

Here's the deal. If you want to be able to rotate all 4, go with the 245/40/19. You won't notice a difference in performance vs the 35's, and they won't affect the speedo. If you want wider in the rear, do 255/35/19 (255 is the widest you can go on a 8.5" rim) and maybe a 225/40/19 in the front. Don't do 255's all the way around. Make sure you get good tires (GS-D3's, Pilot PS2's, S0-3's, etc.)

Ok, I decided to go the 245/40-19's all the way around but with the Falken GR Beta FK-451, they have the same everything as the GSD3's, but they are way less expensive and nicer tread. Again thanks a lot for your help and everyone else. Do you know where I can see a size 40 tire brand new to see how high it is? Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by a "nicer tread," but if you are talking about performance, then I would say that it is not a nicer tread. Cheap tires are cheap for a reason. Tires are probably the most important part of the suspension, because they are what comes in contact with the road. If you go with a nice tire, it will make the world of difference in handling, if you go with a cheap tire, you could really screw yourself over after spending all the money on the wheels. A size 40 tire is going to be a different size on every tire, unless you find a 245/40/19. The 40 is the aspect ratio, and it changes when you change the width and size of the tire. Think twice before you go with a cheap tire, unless performance and wear are not issues you are concerned with. If it is just looks, then I suppose the tires don't make much of a difference.

Re: Final Decision For New Tires For 19's Please Help!

Both of you thanks for the info and advice, very helpful. But for the tires, I look at it as anything is better than my stock tires, i know the Falkens are cheaper but they arent bad tires. Ive seen reviews for them and the actual tires on many cars. If I can get the extra money I will def. go for the GSD3's. But now my ? is are the Falken's any good? According to you guys they arent, but I do a lot in my stock tires and rims, with my new rims and tires I would think it would be 100x different then stock rite? Thanks Martin
