Ceramic Brake Pads...

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these pads that tirerack.com sells. Is the brake performance just as good as stock brakes?

Has anyone brought in their G for the TSB with the ceramic pads and has your dealer put them on for you?

Do they squeak like my brakes do now??

Any other things you guys and girls can tell me that you've experienced would be great.

Thanks

I have them on my sedan... almost dust free with no noticable difference in performance... although I do drive aggressively, I'm not a racer, so I've never explored these anywhere close to their limits

Sorry, did it myself.

After a couple of months they started squeaking at low speeds (under 10mph), after another few weeks the squeaking occurs randomly, though infrequently, at all speeds below 65mph. It's getting to me a bit so I'm starting to look for alternatives.

Re: Ceramic Brake Pads...

I had looked at ceramics, as well as other choices. If you live where it get cold, ceramics and semi-metallics both have the problem of signicantly deminished friction factor below 40 degrees. Basically, no brakes on really cold mornings, until you warm them up. I put EBC greenstuff kevlar pads on my G35X after 300 miles of black dust. The pads are great; as good or better braking, no dust, and better feel (no grabbiness). These are the third set of EBC pads we've had, since we used them an Audi A4, which suffered from the same dust problem. You can also get them from tirerack, though a google search can save you $10-15. Putting them in yourself is easy (1/2 hour) or take it to any reputable shop.

Re: Ceramic Brake Pads...

I've driven my car in VERY cold WX w/ ceramic pads. Work great!
No dust, no sqweel, great stopping power, I couldn't be happier.

Get them, you'll be glad you did!!

HIGHLY recommended!
