Giovanna's on my G
I want to get some feedback on what you guys think about these wheels on my G. They are 18" Giovanna Genoa's with Toyo Proxies FZ4's on them. More pictures under "My Ride"

Great looking car, very sharp.
I have read that Infiniti recommends a 225 or smaller tire on the front. Have you experienced any problems with your tire width while cornering on bumby roads or any other hard driving? Did you notice a difference in acceleration and/or braking with the heavier wheel/tire setup?
Thanks,

Re: Giovanna's on my G
You may not get a quick response from DJRezin8. Unfortunately, his car was totalled by a semi. Fortunately, the G35's safety features minimized his injuries and he's recovering. My G35 cut in half...
Anyone else care to field these questions regarding 245 width tires and heavier rims?

I've got 245's on 20's and the move to higher performance tires outweighs any loss to heavier rims in the handling/braking department. Any accelleration loss has been totally missed by me, and although the ride is slightly harsher, it's less harsh than the Sport Package, and the steering is much, much sharper.

That's interesting. I had my car in for service the other day, and the non-sport G35 loaner didn't feel any smoother than my car. Although, I did notice that it had the Goodyear Eagle RS-A's, and my car has the Bridgestone Turanza EL42's. Maybe the Bridgestones are making up the difference?

Could be. To me, the Sport Suspension rode about the same, but was much less compliant over big bumps, whereas my car is more likely to follow the grooves in the road, which is a tendency for high performance, low profile tires. I live in California, and we don't really have bad roads, at least not where I live!

Must be a different part of California. They just did a segment on the news tonight about the poor state of our roads and how much $$$ damage it does to cars every year.
The sport suspension tends to soak up big bumps better at higher speeds. I proved to my wife last week that parking lot bumps are better attacked at 25 than at 5.

I'm in the Central Valley, where we barely have rain, much less potholes! Be carefull flying over speed bumps. I used to think the same thing, until somebody explained to me that when you so slowly, you give the suspension time to "soak up" the bump through suspension travel, and when you fly over a bump, a lot of the "shock" gets transmitted to the rest of the body & frame of the car because the suspension can't react fast enough. This can lead to premature creaks and rattles, plus alignment issues. Sounded like a good enough reason to go slowly to me....
