TPMS Malfunction?
TPMS Malfunction?
I recently upgraded to 19" OEM rims from the 17". I was driving home last week and the 'low tire pressure' warning light began flashing and then was on constant. It does this every time I start the car. I went and pumped air into the tires to the recommended tire pressure settings, but the same thing happens.
Is this a malfunction of the TPMS because I changed out my tires? Or could it be something else? Has this happened to anyone?
In the manual it says it could be because the tires were changed, but I just want to make sure before I drive all the way over to the dealer when I could just fix it myself.

Yeah if it stays lit you have to have them reset it, filling your tires isn't going to turn it off.
You know that results in you wasting gas? I read in article somewhere that that is actually one of the #1 causes of excessive gas consumption (besides gunning it all the time).

However, if the 19" rim had different set of TPMS on them, you need to get them recalibrated by the dealer.

The TPMS is integrated into the valve stem...You need to remove it from you old rim or just have the new ones re-cab. by the dealership.
