Smokin out old tires...real bad for car?

Im getting ready to get rid of my old tires, they have about 40 somthing thousand miles on them and im planning on doing the usual...smoking them out!!!. Anyway, I was wondering how burning out or even drifting effects the car in general as far as things like engine, transmission, alignment, ect?
