Re: iForged Nightmare, Advice Needed

Ok I've had it, I'm calling iForged tomorrow!! After being at the meet this weekend It's evident the finish is messed up. I havent had these wheels long but now that I think of it they were off from day one. After seeing how everyone elses lips looked It became clear that something was wrong. I just hope that everything goes ok with iForged. I've probably sold a few sets of these rims for them Just from people literally flagging me down on the road to find out where i got them. Wish me luck...

Were they clear coated or brushed aluminum? If so, the polishing tactic is much different.

Re: iForged Nightmare, Advice Needed

They are polished aluminum, This is what I do to try to keep them clean:

wash

polish

wax

wash and rewax before it rains

wash immediatly after I get back (in the rain) and re wash if I have to go elsewhere.

Then repeat waashing and polishing...........

The finish just isn't right. Maybe I'm confused about polished V. clearcoated. But this is not what I wanted I can tell you that... I mean I'm embarassed by the finish lets put it that way. After I told a few friends that I wasn't happy with the way that they looked they were like good man I thought something was wrong but after you spent that much loot I didnt want to say anything. I'm confident that Iforged will do the right thing and plan on talking to Vince. I know they are busy as hell over there and maybe some quality control fell through the cracks. It's understandable since they are expanding.

Mothers aluminum polish.....I have the wenol polish on order but I highly doubt that it will make these shine the way that they should.. At least I'll have it though.

assuming that there is no clearcoat on the lips...wenol will cure your problems. if it is clearcoated, than you shouldn't be putting anything but soap on them.

Re: iForged Nightmare, Advice Needed

I honestly dont know if the Wenol will work. I have tried my hardest to get these things to shine and it's just not happening. I have had all the wheels off of the car and polished the crap out of them to no end. Still I just end up with a clean dull finish. I was looking at polished aluminum lips all weekedn at the car show and various meets and thats when it occured to me that something was off. I'll work with Vince once he calls me back to try to solve the problem.

Does anyone know what happened to the iForged web site?? Seems to be gone.

Re: iForged Nightmare, Advice Needed

Ok I spoke to Vince. He basically told me to have them polished by a professional and then get them clearcoated?!? Am I missing something here? I'm going to get a professional opinion on these cause something is wrong, I know that they need to be kept clean and i'm fine with that but to not be able to bring these rims to a mirror finish after a month is out of line. By chance the wenol showed up today so I'm gonna go test it out now. Still though I feel something is not right. I mean there is no way that anyone would deal with this type pf finish and not complain. Well back to the polishing...............

Re: iForged Nightmare, Advice Needed

Using the Wenol right now......It's not working!!! Ok someone please explain to me the dofference between a "high polish" finish and a "brushed aluminum" finish. I have a good feeling that the wheels I got are brushed aluminum.....Not what I ordered. Who would want brushed aluminum anyway???? I'm actually taking the one wheel that I have off to try out the polish up to a rim shop right now. Thanx for all your help guys........

Oh yeah and Vince said they get down and dirty with Mothers right before a show so it shouldnt be that.....

Re: iForged Nightmare, Advice Needed

Take some pictures of your wheels! I bet you your wheels are clearcoated. If they are clearcoated, the damage has been done. The abrasives in those polish cleaners scratch up the clear coat. How about taking some pictures and maybe all of us can help you a little better.

Re: iForged Nightmare, Advice Needed

Yeah they aren't clear coated they're polished... Basically I got what i ordered and what I ordered wasn't what I wanted.... i spoke to Vince and he cleared up a few things for me. To put it simple I wanted a chrome lip type finish and that cant be done in a 2 piece wheel. I've been going at one wheel with the Wenol polish pretty hard and it's comming out nice. Ill take some pics and you guys can tell me weither or not something is wrong. That wenol polish is something else though practically burns your nose hairs off, that stuff is no joke.. Ah the joys of customizing. Worse case senario I guess I can sell them and get something with the finish that I want but I love the way the wheels look... Oh well back to the polishing...... These things are at least gonna be some shiny aluminum when I'm done with em...
