iForged Nightmare, Advice Needed
Re: iForged Nightmare, Advice Needed
glad to hear that they are starting to come around with the wenol.
one thing that i do to make the polishing a bit cleaner is to wet the applicator rag, and then ring it out, so it is just damp. this keeps all of the black residue on your rag, and not the wheels. also, make sure that you use a separate, dry buffing rag. when my wheels are really dirty, they take a good rubbing with the red, and then with the blue. if you get them nice and polished, you can apply the blue every week or so to keep the finish up (weather permitting).
and MOST IMPORTANTLY....you have to use the yellow flannel cloths!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cotton is too rough, and will scratch instead of polish. you will just end up chasing your tail all day. also, make sure that you are polishing a clean rim, and not a dirty rim. the lips have such a fine finish, that any impurities in the polishing compound can scratch it.

Re: iForged Nightmare, Advice Needed
I must have gotten something on these to take the finish off. Vince mentioned anything with an acid in it would ruin the finish and make it need to be polished again. I dont know if the Auto dry soap has any acid in it but I do use that..... I'm just gonna be really really careful with what I use to waszh them from now on. But the Shine is comming back thanks to the wenol. So in the end there was something worng with the finish and I probably caused it somehow because I wanted to keep them clean. Hows that for Irony. I'm gonna go ahead and call vince now and thak him for his patience in dealng with an Irate customer(I wasnt too hard on him yesterday). Thanx for the help guys... If anyone needs me i'll be in the garage with a few tubes of polish!
Re: iForged Nightmare, Advice Needed
to stop the buildup of dust, everyday LIGHTLY use a california car duster on the lip. I must stress LIGHTLY. NO pressure from the handle, just let the strands put their own weight on the lip, and use fast and short sweeping motions. EVERYDAY. I have the most **** clean freak friend that did this with his schumachers and the polished lip stayed very clean, and after 6 years still has the mirror finish on the polished aluminum. Wax only after rain.

Re: iForged Nightmare, Advice Needed
The pics dont do them justice but they are not clearcoated. Polished for sure. They are comming around now without a doubt. My brake pads are shot so the car has been sitting for the past week. Every night when I get home I pull a wheel off and polish the hell out of it. The Finish is comming back. I really must have used something that took off the finish so Now I know theat they are very tempermental. They should be fine from now on. I'll keep them clean and probably have them professionally polished at the end of the season. The nightmage is over for now. The real test will be when I get the Pads that I ordered (low Brake Dust) and drive around on them for a while. I'm pretty sure that they will hold up though now that I got the finish back.
