So I too am buying tires soon...rather than make a new thread, I searched and found this one. Figured I'd post here as I pretty much have the same question. I'm looking at buying 255/35/18 performance / summer tires for my '03 6MT Coupe. (Not on the factory rims...not sure what I'm getting yet but they will be 9.5" wide all around.) I am hoping to keep the price as low as possible (maybe ~$250 / tire max). I'm currrently rolling on Nitto NT555s, and while I like them, I'd like something with a little stiffer sidewall. Then again they are a 45 series tire not a 40 series so that might have something to do with it. The most important things are traction, then treadwear. I want something that will be good for occasional mountain driving, autocross, and HPDE, but something that will also last me from now until winter with no problems (probably will be 12-15k miles). I don't care so much about noise as it's really hard to find a performance tire that's not noisy. Any recommendations? And please don't say "check tire rack reviews", I've looked at those reviews, and pretty much all of them have really low reviews and really high reviews, so it's really hard to gain any useful info. I'm looking for personal experiences with our cars.
