20" rims with aggressive offset, need new rear tires - size recommendations please

I have an '07 G with 20" Axis Mod7 rims. I'm only replacing the back tires, which are currently 275/35/20. I'm not really sure of the offset of my wheels, I do know the lip is 3 or 4" (sorry I would go out and check but I'm in Canada, about 1000 miles from my baby )

I do like the aggressive offset look, but since I'm having to replace the tires anyway I've got a couple of questions: can I run a smaller size tire (with a shorter wall) in the back? what combinations of tire sizes would work? do you guys think any tire choices will let me drop the car? (the wheels stick out way too much I think)

As far as the front tires, I know they're 245 I dont know the other values. It's not time to change those yet but i want HIGHER walls on these tires to compensate for the wheel gap under the fender. is this possible?

ps. I am VERY ok with running WIDER tires, just not HIGHER tires, I think the high sidewalls give the back tires an suv look..which is cool, but i'd like to try something else.

you should be running a 245-35-20 up front and a 275/30/20 in the rear

thanks gp

can i run 285/30/20 in the rear instead? I know of a couple of people doing it on my car but not with my rims.. will the wider tire make it stick out more?

Your offset in the rear is a little too aggressive for 285's, especially without a drop. You'd need a +45 offset on a 9.5 or 10" wheel to run a 285.
