Hey fellas! I just installed a set of 19" coupe wheels to replace my Sport 18" wheels. They look kinda odd and seems to be sitting a lot higher. Do you guys have photos of your sedan on 19's before you lowered it? Also, the wheels appear to be sticking out quite a bit way past the fenders especially in the back.
I have not taken the car out for a drive but I am afraid that the wheels would rub!

Ya I don't think that set-up isn't going to work if you lower it, the coupe offset is way off. Your gonna have rubbing issues if you lower it, plus you don't want your friends to laugh at you. This link will help you out, it has everything you'll want to know.

Your setup will work fine with the correct tire sizes. At stock height you should not have any rubbing issues, but if you lower it you should plan on getting your fenders rolled. If you roll your fenders you won't have any issues with rubbing.

From the FAQ thread:

Q - Will coupe 19's fit an 03-06 sedan?
Yes, however, if you lower your car you will need to either run smaller than OEM tires or roll/shave your fenders to avoid rubbing in the rear due the coupe 19's lower offset.

Humboldt G - I know about the rubbing if the car is lowered. Believe me, I plan to do that as well as roll the fenders.

Please read my post. I am currently on stock height and with it, the wheels seem to stick out a bit already. Perhaps the suspension needs to settle a bit since the car was jacked up.

I do intend to lower the car as well as roll the fenders so it does not rub but in the meantime, I will be riding on stock height. Your stock photo seems alright from side view. I suppose the suspension will settle. I will check again tomorrow.

How do you find the Eibach's ride quality vs stock? BTW, your G looks awesome!

 

Thanks eric300zx. Ride quality is definitely stiffer than stock, but comfortable for daily driving, not bouncy. Pair that with some sway bars and you'll be good to go!

 

Hard to say but if I had to guess, I think it is close. Do you have a full shot
from the back covering the top of the fenders?

I do think now that it will look much better when the suspension settles.

I would run it around the block just to settle the suspension. I have H&R's on mine and I love the ride. Best of both worlds; low and smooth!!!

 

Here's my G with stock sport springs. I have decided not to lower the rear, but I am rolled on the lips for good measure. I will lower the front 1/2" . It has a 2" gap in rear and will have a 2 1/4" or 2 3/8" gap or so in front. It looks much better in person in terms of being aggressive. On pics, people zero in on the gap and recommend you "slam" it Its not a track car, will never be a track car and the roads and steep drives will be tough for aggressively lowered cars...heck the aero-front bumper is already 1" lower than stock. So being a bit practical on ride-height.
Right now coilovers are not in the picture, but who knows in the future.

Good to know... I may go this route or if not, find a good priced used sport coupe suspension.

 

Looks great! I think mine is close but because I don't have the mud guards,
it also makes it look like the tires/wheels stick out more. Plus the fact that I just lowered car the after being jacked up. The fender gaps were quite taller than the stock wheels when I first looked at it.

Now, I am sure that it will look different tomorrow once it settles.

 

Just lower it and roll the fenders, heck I have a 20x8.5 +40 with a 15mm spacers and I am good.
