Replacing Flat Tires - These Bridgestones are Virtually Impossible to Find

Hi There,

I am either a terrible driver or there is just too much construction going on because after just replacing my back two tires - my front right popped yesterday.

Called all of the local tire places who didnt have the 245/40/19s and surprise surprise they and EVEN tirerack do not have the stock/performance 225/40/19s Bridgestone Potenza.

All of the dealers are telling me that I should get new 18' or 20' inch wheels but wtf is a G35 driver supposed to do when they get a flat tire?

Thank You,
300HPonaDonut

Go with a different Tire Brand. Those tires have a 140 Treadwear rating. Sort tiers by the UTQG Rating. The Kumho Ecsta SPT for example has a treadwear rating of 320AA A compared to the Bridgestone 140A A and it is $110 cheaper than the Bridgestone and will last almost 3 times as long and they are both Max Performance Summer tires.

I do not know anything about the Kumho and would have to research it before buying, but if you want times that will last longer then look for the higher UTQG rating. Some tire companies do inflate their numbers to make their tires look more desirable. Just research it and read the comments and you will be fine.

Have you check for a Firestone dealership in your area? http://www.firestonecompleteautocare.com

Tirerack does have the Potenza RE050A 19". It's actually the first two listed when you search for 225/40/19. fyi...search for tire size, not vehicle. LINK

Not valid to use tire wear index BETWEEN BRANDS, as each manufacturer test their own. Everyone test on a 2,000 mile test loop and extrapolates from that so they [many low cost brands] have learned to make the first 2k longwearing then decline so they can publish a higher number or the tires are just really harder and don't compare in friction factors.

To compare tires use the TireRack 50>0 wet braking test distances and you can't go wrong. Notice in same size tires can have a 25 foot stopping difference. You can lose all the engineering of an exceptional braking system with tires that allow ABS lockup too frequently or for too long just to save money....................buying a performance car and putting on bad brakes [tires] seems strange to me.
