Quietest tire recommendation?

Am looking for opinions on the quietest and/or smoothest tire out there. I want to go with the 245/265 combo on 8" and 8.5" width wheels. May be irrelevant but wheels are 350Z 5spoke style.

Was thinking of the Michelin Pilot Sport's or similar grade? Was considering245/40-18 and 265/40-18. Am in Texas, with no snow or ice. Any thoughts?

I just put on Sumitomos (255-40x18 all around), very quiet.

I just put on 245/35ZR19 and 255/40ZR19 Falken FK-452's on my car yesterday.

They are extremely quiet as compared to the OEM Potenza's. I was doing about 80 to 85mph on the freeway and could barely hear the tires. I highly recommend them!

Don't confuse that fact that almost are tires are quiet [to a degree] prior to 8,000 miles. Modern designs use the brand new tread depth [10/32"] to cancel some of noise as this depth decreases from wear the noise level increases, especially after 5/32".

Depending on other than noise preferences, a non directional tire will allow easy rotations and remounts to flip inner/outer to counterwear the heel toe feather noise.

Agreed. Once any tire gets down to half it's tread life, the noise begins. Putting almost any new tire on will make it seem quiet.

He should ask what tires remain relatively quiet after long term usage. Actually i'm interested to know as well.

I did look at the reviews on the Falkens on the DiscountTire website. Opinions are mixed but LOTS of folks impressed with the quiet ride and more than one person describes them as "floating over road objects". The FK-452 has an average rating of four stars. (not too shabby with 70+ reviews)
