Thumbs down Toyo T1R FTL

I have run Bridgestone RE050A’s (replacing them every 15k to 20k) on my G for the past 63,000 miles and, save for the road noise, loved them. Last week I switched to Toyo T1R’s, and...

What a disappointment.

I should have ignored all the hype and done a little more research. It’s like riding on Jell-O. Very twitchy and unstable around corners. The Bridgstone RE050A's clearly outperform the Toyo T1R.

For the record, I am running 245/35/19 up front and 275/35/19 out back with 37 PSI (Maybe 40 PSI and some wear on the tread will help).

hehe, whatever..
first you run way too much pressure for street tires, that might have something to do with the twitchy response. I wouldn't run anything more than 35psi cold on street tires.
At the track with hoosier A6, I might run 40psi upward.

but FYI, Toyo T1R is hell a lot lighter than BStone RE050.

how many miles you have on the T1R? Once the tires are fully broken in, they will be a lot better.

i thought it was a widely known fact that T1R's had some of the softest sidewalls out there?

I would take toyo t1rs over OEM bridgstones and goodyear eagle f1s and nitto invos. Toyos are superior in every category compared to those tires. Wet traction is about the same as eagle F1s other than that T1r is just better tire than all of those. I know if im buying tire for the street then it won't be anything other than the T1r.

900 isn't a great price, though. it's not bad, but it's not great.

with that said, i like my neogens more than the t1r's.

The OEM Bridgestones are some of the best tires you can get...

everything else either:

1. wears a lot faster
2. offers less steering feel
3. offers less grip
4. costs a lot more

awesome balance... there's a reason its used on like 80 cars.

well let me specify why i would take T1Rs over the OEM RE050.
1. Initial grip is the same
2. RE050s lose their grip under very harsh driving condtions
3. T1Rs grip as good when they are punished as they would in their optimum temp
4. Re050 much noisier tires
5. T1Rs trash the RE050 in the wet.
6. I have had both tires a bit over a year before i had to change them
7. Steering feel is the same
8. T1Rs cost less.

Let me know if im missing something.
