JDM - Japanese Domestic Market
USDM - United States Domestic Market

Different quality standards and test procedures, just like TUV for Germany and EU.

Many countries have standards that require rigorous testing before something is sold whereas the US doesn't have any requirements for the aftermarket parts and uses the courts, funerals, and lawsuits to self regulate.

Many Chinese and asia wheels made to a budget cannot pass TUV and other tests.

BUYER BEWARE and accept the consequences of your decision.

So, if I'm understanding you correctly, JDM wheels would NOT be as safe/strong/good as US made wheels?

He means a lot of the wheels sold in the US don't have to meet any testing standards, since there are none in the US, while JDM wheels have to meet japanese or european standards.

not necessarily, just because they didn't get tested for those standards doesn't mean they wouldn't pass them. My Jlines aren't "JDM" but they are fully forged which is stronger than many other wheels out there that do meet japanese or european specs, just make sure you do your research beforehand

im attempting that now. my plan is to "track" my car so im looking more towards light and strong vs heavy and shiny. i tend to go more for the "understated" look of things or "sleeper" if that is possible with a high end wheel.
