Fixing sstock 18" wheels

For those of you with scratches on your stock wheels. I used Dupli Color Auto Spray to fix mine. They came out perfect and nobody can tell they were fixed. The color code is DS FM 226 Silver M. This is a Ford color so look for that. I found it at Discout Auto Parts.

What i did was i sanded down the deep scratches. Then i did light passes of spray back and forth and letting it dry in between. After it was all done it was a perfect blend.

You just used like sand paper right? And lightly sanded it down?

I'm going to do this today...I'll post tonight about how mine came out too

Thanx for the great tip.

I found this post over on Freshalloy.com, i'm sorry if it has already been posted over here, but this might help those(including myself) to fix the 18's on your own.

IMO, this guy did a sloppy job, overspraying a paint that does not match..but at least he covered it up. I'm still curious how Malx fixed his.

Re: Fixing sstock 18" wheels

that guy is me.

i never said it looked perfect, or i did a fantastic job. i did mention that the paint didn't match. i oversprayed because it would blend in better...more like a "fade" haircut instead of a sharp line going across.

for $20, i'm not complaining. i experimented with other colors but nothing really came close.

isn't it nice to see a DIY outline that doesn't come out perfect? i could have easily played with the lighting and such to make it look flawless. it was just another chronicle of a weekend warrior trying to save a buck (or 200 of them).
