Re: Quote on Iforged Evo?

Based on the prices quoted for the Iforged group buy exclusively for members of this forum, the price you were quoted does seem excessive. Based on the thread referenced below, the group buy expired on April 30, however you may still be able to get in. If interested, I would send a pm to Damen as he is the point person for the group buy. Also, if you are unable to participate in this group buy, their may be another active group buy on my350z.com through Avalon Racing.

Out of curiousity, who quoted you that amount?

Re: Quote on Iforged Evo?

you should be able to get it cheaper going direct through iforged. but, $4000 for 3 pc chrome wheels isn't bad. hre would run you like $5 to 6 grand.

Re: Quote on Iforged Evo?

20" chromes must weigh at least 35 lbs each. I was told the the Evo's would weigh about 25 lbs each for 19's (non chromed). Stock wheels weigh around 21-22 lbs (from reading other peoples posts). That would be like having a 200+ lb. passenger along for the ride ALL THE TIME.

Just something to consider...

Re: Quote on Iforged Evo?

How would It be like having a 200 pound passenger all the time?

Since when did 35-22(4)= 200 ?

You must have went to that new school of math.

I am not sure, but I think he means unsprung weight is the 200lb equivelent in sprung weight? I will have to look that one up in my Physics book though.
Edited by mark20001 on 05/02/04 02:21 PM.

Re: Quote on Iforged Evo?

Since when did 35-22(4)= 200 ?

This is actually a Good Question...

It's common knowledge that in the automotive world that the relationship between unsprung weight and sprung weight is not a linear value. For most cars in the ~3000 lb. weight class, the curve is some what linear... thus an average rule of thumb is if you drop one pound of unsprung weight or rotational mass (wheels, springs, some suspension arm components, lugs, etc...) this is like dropping 4 pounds of sprung weight (things in the car like the back seat, a spare tire, jack, etc...)

Basically if I were to use your equation "Since when did 35-22(4)= 200 ?" and modify it slightly...

35lbs - 22lbs = 13lbs (for each wheel)

13lbs * 4 wheels = 52 lbs (of unsprung weight)

52 lbs (of unsprung weight) * 4 = 208 lbs (of sprung weight) or the equivalence of about a 200 pound passenger. Since the passengers aren't holding onto your rims for dear life they are considered sprung weight .

My math isn't funny, but my previous description was just not as indepth as some might have needed. I hope this helps clear things up a bit.

Re: Quote on Iforged Evo?

We always have specials on iForged wheels and can beat any other authorized dealer prices. We sell at Gb prices all the time (exception is factory direct and they only do that occasionally).

I also have a set of 19" HRE 445R's in stoch. This is a 6K set selling for $3700.00
