Re: EBC Greenstuff brake pad availability

Terrible when cold as in just starting up the car and pulling out of the driving, or terrible in the cold as in when there's this strange white stuff that people keep talking about on the ground?

Re: EBC Greenstuff brake pad availability

I've had EBC greenstuff pads on an A4 for three years and they're great. I think you may be confusing them with the much harder redstuff racing pads. In my experience, one of the better features of the greenstuff pads is how well they work in cold. One pleasant surprise was how long the pads lasted. EBC sales info says to expect 20,000 miles on a set of pads; mine have gone over 40,000. I just replaced them, because I needed new rotors. They still had a third of the pad remaining.

Greenstuff pads are now available: front only

TireRack also carries EBC pads, but they're not listed on their site yet.

Another possibility would be Axxis Deluxe Plus brake pads. I see on BMW forums that those guys use them for good braking with less dust. Bimmers are useful after all.. guinea pigs.

Good news about front EBC pads for us. Was that an already existing pad that just happens to be the right size for us?

Re: EBC Greenstuff brake pad availability

Answered my own question.. it looks like recent Maxima and I35's use the same part number for front brakes. I guess the difference in the stock brakes from the factory is the pad material.

Re: EBC Greenstuff brake pad availability

I was wondering if anyone had to change the stock front pads, and what the cost was from Infiniti. i.e. Comparison of cost b/w "Infinti" pads and EBC pads. If the price difference isn't huge, it seems to make sense.

Re: EBC Greenstuff brake pad availability

Why would anybody consider using the Infiniti dust generators ? My pads have only 3K miles on them, but my car is coated in that filth within 2 blocks.

Has anybody tried the EBCs ? Do they claim these pads specifically limit dust ?

www.ebcbrakes.com

Yes, they specifically claim low dust for the greenstuff pads - 60-90% less dust.

Re: EBC Greenstuff brake pad availability

I've had EBC Greenstuff pads on my wife's A4 for three years and went from constant wheel cleaning (dusty within hours of cleaning) to not cleaning the wheels for dust. There's no black dust, because there's no carbon in the pads. The is some very fine, light dust from the Kevlar. I've also found the pads to be better than OEM in all aspects of braking: feel; cold and wet weather braking; and the wear out time is twice the 20,000 miles EBC claims (mine will go over 40,000 miles).

EBC Greenstuff brake pad availability

From what I've read, EBC Greenstuff brake pads are supposed to be pretty good. High coefficient of friction when cold, and they handle pretty high temps.. good enough for street use and the occassional track day. They're supposed to produce very little brake dust, as they use Kevlar in the pads. However, I couldn't find them for the G35 Sedan. So I sent EBC an email:

Hello.

Do you have an estimate of when your Greenstuff brake pads and sport rotors will be available for the Infiniti G35 Sedan?

One of the common complaints about this car is excessive brake dust. Your pads are the only ones I've come across that seem to address this issue while provided equal or better braking performance. I'm sure there are many owners that would jump at the chance to try your product when their original pads wear out (myself included).

Thank you.

And here's the reply:

Hello.

Those pads will be available probably in a year.

kind regards

Bummer.

I just saw them on the tirerack website. Has anyone run the reds?? I wonder how they are in the cold and for squealing.
