my car got two new tires by my tire pressure light is on and the pressure is right is it possible that they didn't put the tpms back in and that's what's trigering my light.

 

when i got new tires put on it did the same thing. I took it to the dealership and they "reset" it. Didn't charge me anything and it's been fine ever since. The guy told me it was fairly normal when you switch rims or tires but who knows.

 

New tires, no problems. TPMS sensors work just fine.

Seems weird to me that a tire change would cause a big problem with the TPMS, but sounds like it happens.

 

Also if you have a full size spare check the air in that too. I learn that the other day when mine would not turn off.

 

strange thing happened to me. i put new wheels and tires and didnt transfer the tpms, and the light hasn't come on yet. its been about 300 miles.

 

I don't see why the tire change would would cause any problems since the tpms is built onto the rim.

 

Me too. I put on new wheels&tires 10 days ago w/o tpms but the light never came on...strange indeed. I wonder if they were working in the first place

 

mine were working with the stock wheels. i remember the light came on a few times and the pressure was indeed low.

 

mine took about 1000 miles since i didnt make many long trips when i put my 20s on ...

 

The tps is just a valve stem, if the tires place took the keys out during the changeover it would have been avoided.

The car didnt get a reading back from the sensor when they took the wheel off and took the tire off. so it set off the light.


Mines on to but im used to it now.

 

I just pay for them to "rebuild" the TPMS with each tire change. I think it's just a few bucks per tire and mine have always worked fine.

 

Sorry to go off topic, but I have something to share. I recently replaced my 18" oem for 20" RPMs and about 2 days later my tire pressure light blinked. I pulled into the nearest tire shop (Just Tires) to check if there were any nails. They said there was no nails and all the tires were fine at 35psi (btw after my daily drive I check my tires and they air up to 40psi.) Someone recommended me reset my ECU which I did (Pedal Method) and the light didn't go away.

Should I a) take off the TPMS sensor, b) reprogram, or c) just leave it?

 

Hmm, can it read the sensor in the spare tire??


My light is on, and i have the full size spare. I should check it.



EDIT: Just checked. Seems the previous owner used the full size spare when he changed the tires and then put a worn tire and wheel back as a spare. I found it had a nail in it and was completely flat. Does the full size spare carry a TPMS in it? If i plug the spare and air it up, would the car really read the sensor??
