tire size question

anyone know if i will have tire clearance or vdc issues if i put 245/40/19s on the front and 245/45/19s on the rear on my 06 coupe? it would be increasing the height of both the front and rear

use the wheel/tire calculator to find out whether the tire are too tall/small/perfect

and rubbing and etc depends on the wide and offset of the wheel

Why would you want to do that? You are changing the overall tire diameter.

Here's a great calculator/visual to give you an idea: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

i realize im changing the overall diameter, with a taller tire i will get better highway mileage. both front and rear would be taller by about the same amount.

anyway, i pretty much decided on the following

fr 235/35/19
rr 255/35/19

both are slightly shorter and wider by the same amount so vdc should not have a problem.

anyone see any problems with this?

that is a pretty cool tire calculator btw

better highway mileage?
ur just making the reading of ur speedo OFF, and possibly putting lil more stress on the axle
and overall tires are bigger, thus more weight, thus LESS MPG numbers....

245/35/19 & 255/40/19 if they're going on the stock 19's.

taller tires = lower rpms on the highway given a certain speed = better mileage

the extra weight would be very minimal
i realize my speedo would be off but only by about 2% or so

exactly, go with 245/35 for the front and 255/40 for the rear if you are going to go bigger.

basically the tire i want does not come in a 255/40 but it comes in a 255/35. since thats a little shorter, i figured id go a little shorter in the front to stay consistent. a 235/35 is approx 8mm shorter than the stock 225/40 fronts. the 255/35 is approx 8mm shorter than the stock 245/40 rears. anyone see problems with this?

Mike you asked for our opinion and Don's in the business so I have to assume he
knows what he's saying, listen to his advice....

if don tells me that,

fr 235/35/19
rr 255/35/19

wont work, then i will have to find another option. but ive researched those sizes and the tire i want does not come in that rear size. but like i said, if he tells me that what i proposed is a bad idea, i will have no choice but to reconsider

i appreciate everyones advice

which tire are you looking at and why are you dead set on it? You could always go for the 275/35 on the rear.....it's a little wide but some people have actually fit it to the OEM wheel.
