scratch wheels...see inside....

No, this is not another one of those where can I get my scratched wheels fixed.
I want to know how many people in this forum have had their wheels scratched inside the lug nut holes. I have had two wheels scratched this way, because I guess the holes are not big enough for the regular sockets they use with those air guns. It is driving me insane and I panic to think that sooner or later I will have to take my car to get the tires replaced. Do they sell a thin wall type socket that I can give to somebody working on my wheels and say use this socket instead???

there is lug socket out there that has a protective coating/sheath around the socket to prevent scrapes, although I forget who has it. Check Snap-On or Mac Tools...

I purchased these haven't had a need to use them yet, but I think they will help to eliminate this problem

i think the best and cheapest way to prevent this is to apply some good ol duct or electrical tape to one of your sockets, make it a point for the service guys to use this manually and not with an air gun. just reapply the tape whenever it gets worn and dirty.

as for me, i have aftermarket tuner lugs and any service guy is forced to use my taped extender socket.
