Volks look stained, how to clean/polish?

I have Volk Gt-v and my lips look to be stained. After washing them there are like white stains that won't come off. I also have like a rust looking residue accumulating at some hard to reach places. It is really annoying me so i need something to polish them. Any products from local auto store i can buy to make them shine again? Also can they be re-polished professionally if that doesn't work? I will try to add some pics soon. Thanks

if they are stained, then there isn't anything you can do other than take them apart and have the anodizing stripped and repolished. If they are just dirt you can try meguiar's multipeice wheel cleaner and see if that cleans it up somewhat. Using a mild claybar with lots of lube would also help clean them up

I'm not sure how to salvage what you have right now, as I'm not aware of how Volk manufactures the wheels.

But, in the future to prevent this from happening take a look at Andrew's thread over on My350z, post #15:

exactly what happen to my volk gt-f .... i went to a wheel specialists... the people who cleaned my car and wheels used an acid base cleaner and f*cked up my wheels... went back to the owner and basically said prove it was his place that did it... only way to fix this is what Redlude said.... have to take it apart and get it refinished basically

After the anodizing is stripped and it's repolished, how will they look? Will it look bad or more shiny? I'm going to try and clean them with some meguiars cleaners first and then go to some places to see what can be done. I think that it may be dried up soap on there that looks stained. I don't know if it will come off but i will try.

I have a set of SF Winnings with the same damage caused by cleaners that were too strong. The wheels need to be taken appart, strip the lips, polish, and reclear.

I would try to polish with with a very mild polish like Meguair's Scratch X. do not use any more OTC wheel cleaners on anodized lips. that looks like what you have done to get here. only use soap and water when cleaning these type of wheels in the future and only on cool wheels. never let any soap dry on wheels or car for that matter. if you must use something on your wheels try P21S gel wheel cleaner as it is safe for anodized lips...at least the most safe I have come across. I also have anodized lips.

if the polish does not work, then reside yourself to the fact that the wheels need to be refinished as mentioned above or sold for a huge discount. sorry this happened to you. good luck with the polish.

its werid bc i only use soap and water to wash my wheels. i think this may have happened last week, friday at work some guys came to wash peoples cars in the parking lot. it has been raining for weeks here in south FL and the car was filthy. i havent had time to clean the car so i thought i would get these guys to just wash it. i checked out the soap they were going to use and it was normal car wash soap. i think the problem, which i just thought about was that i was one of the last to ask them to do my car, and they ran out of water in the pressure washer , they brought their own tank of water. i saw them start the wheels but they couldnt finish the car. all i can think is that they didnt rinse the soap off totally and it sat in the sun for the rest of the day.

has to be that since they are very recent. damn, thats why i dont have anyone wash my car ever but i guess my laziness got to me.

thanks for the advice, im gonna try some different stuff to see what happens before having to polish/re-finish. luckily its pretty bad on only 2 wheels.
