lowering question

i am a recently new G owner, about a month. i would like to lower my car to make it more aggresive looking, better handling and etc. i did a fair amount of research and am pretty sure i just want to do the eibach pro kit. its looks relatively inexpensive and seems to do the job especially because i only want about an inch drop. however, since the car is my daily driver, i am concerned about the possible depleted ride quality. what are the disadvantages to the eibach, is the ride quality noticeably worse. how much better is the handling, and how much does it cost to get installed and would the dealership do that? thanks for any comments/suggestions

Re: lowering question

Try a search or just browse the suspension forum...another option that many have done is the 350z suspension, it's cheaper and provides better handling than springs alone.

Re: lowering question

If ride quality is your most important concern, consider Tein "H-tech" springs. I have these on my sedan and the ride is very nice, at least as good as stock. The Tein's lowered the front abouut 1.4" and the rear by about .9". The front and rear wheels now appear to be equally spaced within the wheel well. I had my mechanic put them on and it took about 2 hours. Gook luck!

Re: lowering question

I have th Eibach Kit and I love it. The ride is smooth no noticable issues and I have had it for more than 2 months now. The ONLY issue I have with lowering is you have to be carefull in driveways. I have low profile tires and let me tell you, it scrapes every so often. Good luck

Re: lowering question

I also have the Eibach kit and the ride is fine. I've had mine lowered about 2 months now as well.

Re: lowering question

I have the B+G Racing Kit and it has improved the nadling, looks and body roll dramatically. The ride i thought was even better than stock but now it settled and it is pretty similar, it gave me an 1.5" front and 1.3" back but they settled and got a little bit lower than that. I also drive in NYC with 35 serious low profile tire and rims, gotta be carefull but I could tell u that there probably isnt any worse driving than in NY!! Do it but just be carefull and go over your normal daily routes and observe things that you have to watch out for. Martin

Re: lowering question

I have had the Eibach Pro Kit springs for about 1 year and the Eibach sway bars for about 6 months. I love them both. I had the stock sport suspension. The ride is very similiar to stock but the small holes in the road are much more dramatic. The spring response is much quicker. The springs have settled very well and I love the ride height.

If you want increased cornering I would recommend that you first try a Kaaz LSD (limited slip differential). You wouldn't think of a LSD would help cornering, but man let me tell you the car really hooks up now. Much much better than the stock VLSD. It is a little more expensive than doing the suspension, but it truly is a vast improvement.

You can't go wrong with the Eibach set up. What you will notice first is much less body roll. The set up has worked very well for Autocrossing. I do the weekend SCCA Solo 2 stuff and it works well. As for daily driving it really isn't that different of a ride. I drive 75 miles one way to work so I get alot of seat time.

Good luck.

6speedG35sedan:
Do all G35 coupes have sport suspension? Or only the ones with the 18" wheel/tire package? My coupe is a 5AT with 17" wheel&tires, do I have sport suspension?

To others who lowered their cars:
1) How many of you have camber kits?

2) If you dont have camber kits what did you do to correct the camber and also how are your tread wears?

Re: lowering question

All coupes have the same suspension. They are setup to be simular to the sedan's sport suspension. But sedan Eibachs are not the same as coupe Eibachs, you really want to hear from a owner of each platform.

G35s 259/334 front 359/413 rear
G35c 229/337 front 274/463 rear

Their are more sport oriented springs out their, but never the less your still dealing with the limitations of the oem shocks. And progressive springs are not known for their turn in performance or containment of weight transfer issues.
