I have this setup on my stock rims, and I like it a lot. The only downside is that you will lose about .5 to 1 MPG or so due to the extra tire weight and rolling resistance due to the slightly wider tires. No biggie.

So you like it a lot just because of the way it looks or does it drive/handle better?

I'm leaning towards this setup as well with General Exclaims.

The Cheapest route to go are the Kumhos, Generals, or Falkens mentioned above. Stay away from the Avons! The Coupes eat tires like candy, so if you are planning on jumping ship soon, these choices might be the way to go.

found this thread by searching. I need new tires for my sedan and I'm leaning toward the Genrals, but I've read on two reports that they have a tendency to hydroplane at 70mph+ during heavy rain. Granted these reports are anecdotal, but I'd appreciate some info from anyone who has owned the generals. I'm in the same boat as you guys on choosing between these tires.

After everything, I've decided to go with the Kumho Ecsta ASX tires (instead of the SPT's because of all the rain where I am). I'll let you guys know how they are after I've driven for a while.

General Exclaim

I have a set of Excalims on my iroc-z and they have great tread life but any real hard cornering the tires scream and start to lose control. On my 03 6mt i have BFG G-Force T-A's 245/40-18 all the way around and they do surprisingly well in the cold now that im in RI, and in San Diego, never took a turn to fast, the tires handle great, ride is smooth, and decent tread life. Seriously recommend these tires.

Check out this review from another member. Vredestein is not a common brand here but it seems that people are really impressed with this tire.

Thanks for the heads up. I almost ordered the exclaims but didn't on account of the poor wet traction claims.

I just ordered some michelin pilot sports ( not the plus ) for 118 a pop at tirerack on closeout. I figure they'll suit me better when I move to colder climates soon as they're a little better in the cold. I swear, choosing a tire is a pain in the butt...you can never get what you want for a reasonable price.

I put General Exclaims on my sons Miata and we've had great luck with them. We've Autocorssed on them and driven them hard on mountian roads and they hold up incredibly well. They have great dry traction thought they do sqeal a little at the limit. We haven't experience the hydroplaning problems mentioned here but performance differs depending on the car. I don't care for the looks of the Generals though and I went with the Yokohama S-drives on the G. So far great perfromance at a reasonable price. I'm real happy with them. I haven't had them long enough to comment on tread wear but they are real quiet and handle great. And are priced pretty well.

I'm ordering the General Exclaims for the back of my Coupe from Tire rack. I have Avons on there now and was able to get 12,000 miles out of them. I refuse to spend alot of money on tires for the Coupe as I am changing them all the time. I don't drive very hard, and the Avons on the rear were not all that bad. Both these tires are fairly equivalent to the Khumos and Falkens.

Has anyone had any experience with the tires mentioned already? I'm a little hesitant on purchasing a set before I hear how they perform on a G coupe (because of all the frequent tire wear issues people have noted).
Don't put cheap tires on/ have right tire pressure in tires and also rotate tires...

To be honest, I don't want to spend a lot of cash and just want a set of tires that won't need replacing after 15k.

I was looking at getting a set of Kumho Ecsta SPT's (http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?ti...sta+SPT+(KU31))

Any advice?

Also, I'm Canadian, so if anyone knows of a good place to buy a good set of tires for a G in Canada (to avoid duty), please let me know! Thanks!
Mae what part of canada u from?? im from bc welcome!
