Too much road noise due to tire size?
Too much road noise due to tire size?
I wondering if my tire size is the cause of all the road noise I hear or if it has more to do with the tire quality. I am currently running 255/35/19 BF Goodrich g-Force T/A. I don't know what brand tire I will be buying but I am thinking about getting 255/40/19 next time to help reduce the road noise. Do you guys think that will help any or should I just stick with the size I got and try a different brand? I really like the 255 width up front so I don't want to change that. I am also on Volk GT-V's. I don't think the rims would make a difference in road noise but I guess it is a possibility. The only time the road noise bothers me is when I am going 15 mph or slower. It actually sounds worse at 15mph then it does at say 5 or 10 mph.
Thanks for the help

tread design
it's the tread design, The bigger the blocks the more noise you get like those big trucks with super swamppers on them ridin down the the highway you can hear them a mile away.
aspect ratio won't really make a difference, have your alignment checked, sounds like you are beginning to experience some feathering which is usually associated with excess low speed road noise
I figured the taller sidewall would send less vibration through the tire, or something like that. The tread pattern does have big blocks so that could very well be it. I think I will be going with a different tread pattern next time. Still not sure what I will do about the size. THanks.
What is feathering?
