Good tire for sprited driving
Good tire for sprited driving
I'm looking for a tire that will perform well in the hills, back roads, but also a overall good tire for the streets as well. Sticking to the road is my #1, #2 tread life and #3 road noise. I used to have the BFGoodrich G-force KDW2, I'm looking at getting something like that again.
Any suggestions?

+1. I've never tried the R888's, but i had a set of RE-01R's on my sedan and they are by far the stickiest tire i've ever driven on.

dont expect to get more than 10-12k miles out of either of those 2 tires listed. You cant ask for a super sticky tire and then want tread life. So if performance is your #1 priority, you have to sacrifice other factors.

What would be a tire that would be sticker then the stock 07 sedan tire, with about a 16-18k mile wear? Seems on those RE-01R people were getting around 15k, I'd like just A LITTLE more miles on the tire. If I run the stock rim, what is the biggest rear tire I can run without rub? (stock height, stock rim 07 g35 sedan)
Toyo T1R are real nice, I've run them at the track a few times and they performed pretty well. Although, as far as wear, the edges of the tires showed visible wear after only 1 track day.

a 265/45 is 7/10" taller than stock.

and with a quick search... they dont make a tire in 265/45 or 265/50/18. A 275 tire is too wide for the stock 8.5" wide wheel. So your only option would be a 265/40 or 255/45 for the rear.
