just called tirerack and asked what other tire sizes will work on the stock coupe 18's. i was looking for something wider.

i was told front 245/40/18 and rear 265/40/18.

does that sound right. he said they were safe and would fit. any suggestions/opinions?

Sounds like it should be no problem....but,
I'd go to the tire manufacturers web site and check out the specs for what they recommend.
Each manuf. is different....due to their sidewall..etc.

Hmmm...the 265 size seems pretty wide for the 8" rear rim width. Ask them again to be sure.

'04 6MT coupe

 

265/40/18s have a rim width recommendation of 9-10.5". To wide for the stock 8" wheel. A better choice would be 245/40/18 in front and 255/45/18s in back.
