20" Rims Affecting Performance?
Alright, I've been reading pages upon pages on this forum and others about this topic, and I haven't really gotten a definitive answer. I really want to get some 20" Axis Shine's but the drop in performance is definitely a concern for me. Those with 20's, is it something I'm really going to notice? I have the 18" 7 spokes now. Would I be better off getting 19's or is there really much of a difference?
i wouldnt really say that 20's for normal daily driving and city driving is gonna affect performance but if u plan on racing it , it wouldnt be such a good idea to race with 20's with the mods u have

I do plan to add some more mods, I'm definitely not done yet haha. I still need to get a spacer, intake, possibly some underdrive pulleys, probably some test pipes, and maybe get it tuned at some point after all that.
The weight of your wheels has more to do with performance than anything else. I have a set of Racing Harts, which are good quality wheels, but when I switch them out with my OEMs, I feel a definite increase in acceleration, not to mention the higher profile tires make all the bumps in a road a lot more tolerable.
I don't race my car so I happily put on my aftermarket wheels every spring, but I do it just for looks. I know that my car is probably more sluggish with them on since they're heavier but it frankly doesn't bother me since I don't race or take my car to the track. YMMV.

^^ i agree with that as well, something i forgot to throw in, if u can find some lightweight 20's then go for it but just find some nice 19s, sorry im more biased towards 20's unless the fitment is ****

Yeah I've been looking at some more pictures of 19's and they're starting to grow on me some too. As freaking stupid as this is, something about them being "20's" is appealing to me, LAME I know but hey, can't help who you are right? haha.
So, 19's plus a slight drop might be the ticket I'm looking for. Now I just need to decide if I want to go with something like Axis Shine, Super Hiro, or maybe something like the Tenzo Type M with red stripe

I just put on some axis matrix lastnite 20x9,10.5. Surprisingly they were not much heavier than my stock 17s maybe 3-5lb difference. When i took it for a spin the car did feel a lil sluggish and slower but after hitting the freeway it wasnt to bad. Doesnt the ecu resets itself to make up for change from the norm?

As far as the ECU, wheels aren't a "performance" gain (and the aforementioned wheel size is the same) so there'd be no change.

OP, just go with 19's

Anybody know and also will it reset your speedo to reflect the change?
