19" Factory Tire Replacement

I have a 2006 G35 Coupe with the 19" Sport wheels. As you all know tires for the wheels are quite expensive. I went to tirerack and found 7 or so makes of tires. the cheapest were the Kumho Ecsta SPT.. which had great reviews and stats. I had Kuhmo tires on my old car and had great results. Has anyone tried these specific tires before? Anyone else offer any recommendations for replacements? Should I stick with original tires (Bridgestone Potenza RE050A) to avoid any incompatibilities/issues? If so, they cost $500 more for the set vs. the Kuhmos.

In order, I am looking for good: price, tread wear, road noise, performance

Another option I was considering was to replace the wheels with 20" aftermarkets as oddly enough these tires are less expensive than the 19". That could offset some of the cost for new wheels (then I can sell my 19"s)

Is it normal for the original Bridgestone Potenzas to wear so quickly? I still have these original tires and my car has 15K miles. It appears the tires have 10-15% tread left.

You won't go wrong with the Kumho you listed. Other great alternatives are Falken FK-452, Vredstein Sessenta, and Toyo T1R.

BTW, I have the Falkens on my car and I love them. They work great on the track, in the rain, and on dry surface. They are also much more quite than the OEM Potenzas. I am going to try the Vredstein's out next though. You'll probably have to order them online. They are getting excellent reviews by many.

We have a couple of site sponsors who offer some different tires at pretty competitive prices.

Search around and you'll find other threads like this as well as some reviews.

Best of luck finding new tires!

I'm going with the Vredstein next because of the reviews I have read on them. Have you seen them yet? They are prices right on par with the Falkens. I'm not due for new tires for another year or more though. I just bought the FK452's last July.
