I was told by myG37 folks to post up here for better feedback so here goes:

Anyone has experience with Nitto N555? I was going for Invo's but our local distributor is out of 275/35/19.. he offered me N555's what do you guys think? Those any good or do I stick with stock-style Potenza's

Michelin PS2, Goodyear Eagle f1 gsd3, BFG KDW2, Falken 452, Vredestein sessanta are all good choices

 

Well I will have to disagree, I dont see how they are "the worst ever made"

I have the nitto 555s right now on my G in 245/35/19, and im getting them again with my new wheels in 275/35/19. I think they are a great dry surface tire. Alittle bit sketchy sometimes in wet weather from a stop and around tight corners, but overall I think they are very good tires.

Very grippy on the street and on the track. I was getting 2.1-2.0 60 foots at the track and when they were almost blad.

the stock potenzas are garbage. I would suggest getting something new for sure.

If you really dont like the nittos or want to look at something else I would get the BFG KDWs, those are also great tires...

 

i just ordered 2 more nittos. They are great tires when its dry out but they arent the best in wet conditions.

 

well it doesn't get too wet in Dubai so I'm not very concerned with wet surfaces

 

Then I would say go with the 555s.

I dont see how redlude97 came to the conclusion that the 555s are "the worst high performance tire ever made", I would like to see his opinion.

 

I'm getting a sick deal on those since the local distributor is sponsoring our local G & Z club.. I wanted Invo's but he's only got 555's in stock

 

When I was shopping for tires, I was between the Invos and the 555s.

The Invos are about as good, maybe alittle bit under the 555s in terms of dry weather performance, but the Invos are FAR better when it comes to wet weather.

yet the tread wear of the Invos are lower than the 555s. My last set of nitto 555s lasted me 20,000 miles before I had to change the rears (in my case I got new wheels as well lol) and the front were like new, alot of tread left.

Death in the rain, only so-so in the dry, and a soft sidewall for unpredictable cornering. Try: BFG KDW2, Falken FK452, Toyo T1R

 

do not get nitto nt555's. they are one of the worst "name brand" tires i have ever seen on the market. i have worked at americas tire company for about 6 years and i can not even tell you how many vehicles ive seen come back with these tires with FAILED sidewalls(bubbles in sidewall etc etc). not to mention, the grip on these tires suck, in the rain and dry.

if you want a high quality, super nice gripping tire, looking into the michelin pilot sport ps2. the ps2 is literally one of the best all around tires i have ever driven on(loads of grip in the dry, and super predictable in the rain) and will have a pretty decent lifespan as long as you dont heavily abuse the tire(i did a good 5 rounds of autox and tons of backroads on my ps2's and they lasted me ~20k miles). there are also good tires out there from continental, dunlop and goodyear.

i would stay away from ALL pirelli tires also. they are also very common for premature sidewall failures

 

Ok, don't take my word then, how about expert opinions from people who have actually used more than one set of uhp tires, and at the same time in the same condition

thanks for all the info people.. i might be passing on the sick deal then.. I do occasional track days every now and then.. seems like Michelen PS2 is the winner, let's hope their price is reasonable now. I don't want to end up spending $2k just on tires

 

If you want great Max Performance tires: PS2's, GSD3's, RE050A PP's are all great performance tires for 19's.

If you don't want to dish out that much money, 452's and T1R's are great for DD cars that want good performance for the $$$.

There are many more out there but I think we are limited by the proper sizes for 19's.
