My rims are getting alot of brake dust. Has anyone used a steamer on the rims to loosen the dirt. Thought I'd try it. Will it hurt the rims.

There is a protective plastic coating on the wheels. Not sure if it's resistant to steam...............[img]/w3timages/icons/shocked.gif[/img]

Why steam them...use Eagle 1 A toZ wheel cleaner. Spray it on hose it off-too easy.

It's sold in parts stores and also at target and wal-mart i think

If your Target is good it will have it-have not seen it at Wal-Mart. Try Pep Boys,Auto Zone,Checkers/Schucks/Kragen.

I use P21S on my wheels since it it Ph balanced and does not contain any acids or harsh chemicals. Make sure you wax the wheels with wheelwax (wheelwax.com) or regular car wax to keep away the dust.

 

I just bought some Black Magic wheel wipes from pep boys. they're kinda like baby wipes, just pull outta the bottle and wipe. i'll test em out on the bmw (which has a ton of brake dust after just 10 miles) tomorrow and let you guys know how they work. It'll be pretty handy if they work good.

yup eagle 1 a to z works great... it's orange stuff that just loosens the dirt right off... a little agitation really helps though...
