Hotchkis sway bars

I was installing my sway bars today and ran into one problem. The nut on the drivers side would not come loss.Try as i may that sapsucker would not move. The one in the rear went on perfect. Now i have to go buy a nut buster to install the front tomorrow .So that i can take the front sway bar off. I will have pics. tomorrow.

I've been so lucky, when I can't break something like that, I call my brother, he's got one of those air impact wrenchs that puts out like 550ft lbs of torque. On mine, when I installed my Cusco bars I had to use a long handled box end wrench and I used my leg to shove on it real hard, that did the trick.

It is all about leverage. Unfortunately, when you don't have much space to do it, then it becomes a real problem. You can try spraying WD-40 on it and see if that helps. I was fortunate to change my sway bars at a friend's house that has an air wrench. That sucker took it out in a heart beat.

Re: Hotchkis sway bars

I have never seen someone change, add or modify a sway bar, but if you're having a problem with removing a nut or bolt, try either adding or removing heat. Most things expand when heated. Heat a nut and then try to loosen it. Freeze a bolt and try to loosen it. Those are 2 tricks that haven't been mentioned yet... Good Luck.

Re: Hotchkis sway bars

Need some advice on these bars. Do they fit both the sedan and coupe using the same Hotchkis part number? Reason why I'm asking is because I want to use them on my sedan and once I give my car back after lease, I want them to be put on my GF's coupe. Thanks!

Do these bars come with the end links as well? Do I have to get new end links or buy anything else to have them fit? Thanks!!

Rumble, it's the same part number, all Z and G sway bars are all the same, oem and the aftermarket one's. You do not need to buy anything else as either the bars will come with new mounting bushings or will reuse the oem bushings. All bars reuse the oem end link system.

Re: Hotchkis sway bars

spray some PB blaster (yes this stuff works) and use 2 wrenches to get more leverage. You know how to interlok 2 wrenches don't you.
