What spring/camber kits to get?!

Ive asked this before and never gotten a straight answer.... i want to lower my car onto some gt-c 19's. I wanna drop it about 1.3-1.8 inches in the front and 1-1.5 inches in the rear. I dont want to spend the $2k for new suspension, install, and alignment. I Want to know what springs/camber adjusters (toes, arms... i dont know anything about it) would i need? I want to not only lower the car ride height, but IMPROVE the ride if at all possible. I could deal with not gaining any handling performance or anything, but i just dont want to LOSE any perfornance. If that is not possible with that much of a drop without full coilovers, tell me what the best/most economic way of lowering my car, possibly improving ride (not comfort but actual performance and reduce body roll if possible), and tell the lowest i can get without HURTING performance of my car and without dumping the money for coilovers. Where can i buy FRONT camber kits? Do i need one? I know that i would NEED rear camber adjusters, but just give me some advice and stuff.

Based on what you want,

Tein S-tech springs, or Tanabe springs

Kinetix front camber arms (make sure you really need them or at least weigh the cost).

Kinetix camber arms (don't bother with the traction arms)

SPC toe cam bolts (to adjust toe from the oem location, not from radius arms).

what would be the cost of this? is there a reason that i should get the springs and camber kits and stuff or should i just save more and get the coilovers?

Re: What spring/camber kits to get?!

Let me price out the stuff I laid out and I'll talk about springs vs coilovers at the bottom.

Tein G35 coupe S-tech springs $165 (should be easy to at least get them at this price point, do not spend more)

Tanabe DF210 G35 coupe springs $198
http://www.optauto.com/webstore/prod...k=yes&dept=226

Either brand and model of spring don't offer much increase in spring stiffness (you mentioned ride quality). But the Tanabe springs do not use softer rear's like the Teins do.
Tein S-tech 358/274
DF210 308/353
oem 314/342

If you need it, the front Kinetix camber arm kit sells for $390
http://www.kinetixracing.com/index.a...&ProdID=7&HS=1

The rear Kinetix camber arms sell for $220
http://www.kinetixracing.com/index.a...WPROD&ProdID=2

SPC toe cam bolts $45 (pm this member and ask him where he got his at, https://g35driver.com/forums/showpro...age=&view=&sb=

Now springs vs coilovers. I think that based on what you want out of your lowered vehicle, that making the jump to coilovers would be a pretty hard sell. You have to be able to say that you can't meet your needs by just installing springs. I don't see your wants as being out of the reach of just lowering springs.

The coilover system that comes to mind would be the Tein CS system, $1425. If you were game for a firmer ride quality the Tein Basic's are well liked and would improve the handling plus are highly cost effective at $745 or so (would be nice if the group buy on my350z.com for $670 went somewhere).

Re: What spring/camber kits to get?!

it'll be about $875 if i get the springs, camber arms, and toe cam bolts u suggested (i dont want to go with softer springs so i priced with Tanabe).... tein basics would be about the same price..... would i need camber adjusters if i got the basics? What is the stiffness of them and stuff? I kind of like the idea of adjustable ride height because im not quite sure EXACTLY how low i want to go yet.... I wouldnt want to buy springs and realize that my car doesnt look as good as i would have liked and want to go 1/2 an inch lower or something. I also dont want to get something and be locked into 200 dollar springs hat are TOO low and are undriveable where i live (scrape).... so i wouldnt mind going tein basics. What would you guys do if you were me?

Re: What spring/camber kits to get?!

alright im thinking that for 780 i will probably get the tein basics... i found a good picture of some 19's on a coupe and how i want my stance at this link

https://g35driver.com/forums/attatchments/263343-Dad's%20Pictures%20047.jpg

will i need front and rear camber adjusters for this to get it in spec? If i take myc ar to a shop and tell them to put on tein basics and then let them try to alighn it and they cant... and i end up adding camber adjusters, would it take them another few hours to take everything off the car and stuff and reinstall it (i dont know the exact setup of suspension... but im guessing that it would be alot cheaper just to have them install it the first time than haveing them go back and do it). Wiill i REALLY need front camber to go as low as that pic? Ik now that rear has a lot of negative camber (bigger wheels and lower ride will mean camber arms for sure im guessing), but what about the front? u think i could get back into factory spec with it like that? And last thing... to adjust my front ride height, will i have to take off the wheel or anything? I'm thinking of just having them drop the basics as low as they will go in the front without camber arms (about an inch or so?). and then just getting camber arms in the rear and dropping it to where i like the look

Re: What spring/camber kits to get?!

Well, as you drop these cars more and more past a certain point, you move past what the alignment specs say is allowable. You have to balance how far past those specs the drop you want takes you, against the cost of the front camber correction kit. (I can't see where you'd have enough room on the front and rear to be able to adjust the coilover heights with the tires still mounted on the car, IMO).

As a example, the shop manuel tells us the max amount of negitive camber for the front of the coupe is -1.25. Let's look at the coupe when it's dropped 1.2" in the front.

At a 1.2" drop the coupes front camber goes too,
-1.55/-1.44

Being just .25 out of spec, I would not spend the money to correct it. HOWEVER, if you drop lower then that, I would spend the money to add on the front camber arm kit. And yes you would definalty want to add it on at the time of the suspension install.

Now let's look at the rear.
According to the shop manuel the max allowable rear camber on the coupe is -1.75

On a coupe that was dropped .9" in the rear this is what the rear camber went too.
-2.74/-2.51

Here is the same car after adjusting the oem adjustment system to the max

-1.94/-1.94

That's only .25 more then the max spec. But to some, that worry about inner tire wear, it's too much. If I were you, I'd buy the SPC camber arm/toe cam bolt kit. One thing that complicates the alignment of these cars is that radically correcting camber offten makes the toe adjustment out of spec, something that would be taken care of by and large with the toe cam bolt in the SPC kit. Here's a ebay add to buy it, you would have to buy 2 kits to do both sides, cost would be $258 for 2 kits. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33581

On a rear camber/ toe kit, the camber arms don't envolve the springs and shocks to install. But the toe cam does envolve removing the springs so you can get to the toe cam bolt. But it's super easy and would not equal much added shop time.
