Falken 452's 2007 Sedan
Falken 452's 2007 Sedan
Been reading through this forum for about two hours and have been seeing quite a few opinions on which brand and model of tire everyone likes. Thankfully my decision was made on those two criteria for me when I had my rear passenger side stock tire go flat today. The only thing I could find locally in 245/45/18 was a Falken 452. So now I'd like to pickup a set of Falken 452s for my fronts next week but unfortunately the 452's dont come in 225/50/18s.
I'll be the first to admit that I've never owned a car long enough to have to replace tires so I have no clue what I can change measurement wise when replacing a tire. I love my G35 though and am most likely going to buy it out when the lease is up so its time to learn. To keep a matched set, my only options up front that seem reasonable are the following:
225/45/18 - (Slightly smaller, spedometer ~2mph slow)
245/45/18 - (Touch smaller, spedometer ~.5mph slow)
I've heard matching the fronts with the rears will mess up VDC though. Is that true? If so will the 225/45/18s mess it up as well? Would it be better to get a different brand and model up front to keep my stock sizes and keep everything working properly?
Thanks for your advice, I definitely have alot to learn.

I don't think matching, as long as the overall diameter is the same, will mess up VDC. I have a non-staggered set-up on my Sport.
You may be able to get away with 245/45 in the front, but check Falken's tire specifications and make sure it's safe to mount it on your front rims, which i'm assuming is 7.5" wide.

Any other advice from the experts? Im still struggling with which direction to go. Seems like the 225/45s would be a more aggressive change than the 245/45s but I really love going around corners fast and want to avoid messing with my VDC.
The 225/45s change my diameter -7/10" and the 245/45s change my diameter -2/10". I think the only other real concern I have keeping me from trying the 245/45s now is that Im putting a much wider tire on a 7.5" rim. If thats not an issue I think Im going to go with the matched tires and hope for the best.
Thanks in advance.
