I would like to try the Falken 912s but want to know if they are going to be noisey. Anyone have any feedback on the noise for these tires?

Bocatrip, I run 235/55/17 Falken 912's all around (2004 sedan) and have had them for around 20K miles. The tread is at around 6/32 right now. The price for all 4 installed was <$475 last year.
Overall, a fairly quiet, smooth ride with excellent handling in wet/dry conditions. On ice or even very light snow, you might as well be using slicks! The sidewalls are a bit mushy and cornering is not extremely crisp.
Discount tire reviews gave them high marks, especially for the price (last year they were ~$100 apiece I believe).
I ran the Kumhos before and felt they were a superior tire all around to the Falken. Keep in mind that I don't drive my car hard at all. I get around 28-30mpg at 65-70mph highway and around 22 city, and generally will get around 45-55K miles out of a set of tires. I get new tires once hit around 5/32 on the tread.
If you look at the ratings, Tirerack rated (last year) the Kumho Solus about as high as Discount tire does the Falken, both cost about the same but have very different characteristics.
I would base my decision on my driving style, where I live and what I'm hoping to do with the tires (race, drive around like an old man in a hat, cruise down Pacific Coast highway, daily commuter, thrash them about daily etc.)
Good luck and I hope this helps

I have read a few comments about the Falken 912s having somewhat of a mushy ride. I remember getting a pair of General Exclaim UHPs from tirerack and I had to return them to tirerack because of the super soft sidewalls. There was no rigidity in the sidewalls and dismounted off the car I could actually flex the sidewalls with my fingers as they were so thin. When they were on the car I was scared S..t as the car was unstable at higher speeds swaying from left to right. Does anyone know if the Falken 912s are that pliable? Most tires I have expierence with have had rigid sidewalls.

After going through many of the reviews from Discount Tire for the Falken 912, I did notice a few reviews mentioning that although the tire did start out relatively quiet, after 10,000 miles the noise in once case became unbearable. Both cars were rear wheel drive, a 5 series BMW and a GS300 Lexus. In addition, many complained about the very short tread life which is consistent to the Consumer Reports findings.

Thanks, Road noise is what I'm trying to avoid. Yours are not the 912s, but I have decided to bite the bullet and stick with the OEM tires that are supper quiet and have worn relatively evenly other than the insides. The RSAs although expensive, are very very quiet even after 18,000 miles and I can get almost 20,000 miles out of them.

I had both ZE912 and FK452. ZE912 is very good all-weather tire, good for moderate cold and light snow (but not for a lot of snow), and very good all-around tire. FK425 is a definite step-up for ZE912, an excellent performance summer tire (although there are better tires out there, for a lot more money).
FK452 are more expensive, but they are also more quiet and more comfortable than ZE912 (go figure...), and perform much better on dry warm pavement.

I've got the 912s on my maxima and love them but not in the snow (absoulty terrible) but all around performance is pretty good. I've got about 15k on them now and they are still as quiet as when I bought them, great hydroplane resistance and great dry grip for an all season, my only real complaints about them is the snow traction and the squissy sidwall, even running them at 45psi they're still soft. Treadwear has been real good I just had them rotated and there was only a 2/32s difference between them. I'd recomend them as a decent tire but great for the price I paid, $106 each 225/45/18.
