Winter Wheels for 2004 G35 Coupe 6MT with Brembos
I have some real nice 20s on my G35 that I do not wish to ruin in the winter. I am trying to build me some winter wheels, but I am not too sure on the fitment.
I think I have determained that if I go with 18s I need a 18x8 rim with a +35 offset to properly fit and clear the brembos. I would also like to look into running 17 inch wheels because there are more winter tires available in that size and they are cheaper.
Is there anyone out there that could tell me the right size rim I would need if I go the 17 inch option? I think the question is really what would the correct offset for a 17x7, 17x7.5, or 17x8 rim.
Does anyone run a 17 on the 6MT (brembo) G35 coupe?
I appreciate any help that is offered. Thanks!

Neil,
If you are willing, I would like to ask you another question. This may be more of just a general education question regarding wheels, but here it goes.
The current summer wheels I am running have an offset of +25mm and there are custom 25mm wheel spacers also on the car with those wheels. If I understand this correctly, the spacers are basically cancelling out the offset to push the wheels out to give the tire a flush look with the fender. Does that sound right? Or do I have it backwards?

If the car came with a +25 mm offset originally and you added a 25mm spacer that would make the wheel a 0 offset. That spacer would move the wheel one inch further away from the car. That's a pretty hefty piece of meat between the wheel/hub.
Wheels were the same sized f/r, but ran a taller rear tire to keep VDC happy. Have to stagg them to keep rotational diameters correct.

Neal,
I tried fitting some 17" Enkei wheels with the width and offset you mentioned above, and they did not clear the Brembos. Would you please supply me with the make and model of the 17" wheels you ran with the winter tires. I am going nuts here and the roads are starting to get colder. Thanks again for your help thus far!

For those who may come behind me looking for some 17" winter wheels to better run some snow tires, this is what I ended up getting and I have now had them all winter and they have been great:
AMERICAN RACING PHANTOM - Machined w/ Black - 17 x 7.5
These do clear the brembos with no need of a spacer, even though the space would give a nice flush look.
