Brake Cost

Hello to all, just had my front brakes replaced at 21 K , dealer informs me I have 50 % remaining on rear. Needless to say Nissan has given in, and is extending warranty on brake rotors and pads to 3 years / 60 k, however I was charged for servicing/cleaning/lubrication which is not covered, nice way to make $ 105.32 for fronts only. Lets do the math. If I have to do fronts every 20 K and rears every 30 K it will still cost $ 526.66 plus tax for 60 K usage because Nissan used inferior parts. Keep in mind after the 60 K what the cost will be

Regards

Re: Brake Cost

I thought the warranty on the brakes were 3 year 36,000 miles. If so, you'll have to revise your calculations. You might look into an aftermarket kit LOL. Use the kit while you own the car and then sell it. It'll probably save you $ in the long run, which will depend on how long you plan to keep the car.

Anyone get their brakes replaced before the warranty know how much the service cost?

Re: Brake Cost

That is not what the brake letter says, I know one person who had the brakes replaced already, didn't cost them a cent! Are you talking 60k miles or kilometers? If you are in Canada, perhaps the warranty is different, but I don't see why as far a charging you!

Re: Brake Cost

I am in Canada, 36000 miles = 57934 kilometers, I think the dealer screwed me. He claimed it was to remove the brake dust, and rust that had acumulated on the calipers, as well as lubricating the slides and pad backs. He stated it was not part of the warranty replacement. I honestly can't see any dealer /shop or DIY mechanic not cleaning and lubing these components.

Re: Brake Cost

When I had my brakes changed under warranty at 15,000 mi I didn’t pay a dime. Your dealer sounds a little fishy to me.

Re: Brake Cost

Did not pay anything to have my brakes done, both front and rear. Replaced the rotors in the front too! I am in the US. Not sure if the warranty is different in Canada. I would ask for the money back or report them to Infiniti Consumer affairs.
