Staggered necessary?

Is it really necessary to get a staggered setup, or is it just personal preference? Performance wise are they any different?

the wheels im looking at buying come either 20x8.5 all around or 20x8.5 and 20x10

in the case of the available sizes you have posted, get the staggered combo...20x8.5 in the rear will get lost.

For the coupe, I strongly suggest it. If you have to question it, then you should just stagger. You'll regret the stance if you don't.
