What is better stagger?

A 245/40-18 and a 255/45-18 have a difference of .6. Stock is .3. A 245/40 and 255/40 have a difference of .1. It seems logical that .1 would be better than .6 yet most posts say the first setup is better. Will a higher difference increase or decrease sensitivity of the VDC? I know this is a boring post but I would appreciate an answer.

Re: What is better stagger?

That does give about a perfect .4 stagger but it would also make the rear tire (at least with GY Eagle F1 GS-D3s) a little bit narrower than the front. Plus I prefer to go a little bigger than stock in back.
