Work Varianza T1S Wheels - good wheels?
I'm looking to replace my present boat anchors (TSW Nagaros) with a good set of 20" wheels for my G35.
Right now, looking at several differents types including iForge Aero's as well as the Work EQUIP which look similar to the Aero's.
The Work Varianza T1S looks to be a pretty popular option and is less expensive than the others, but not sure if this is a decent wheel or not. It looks great, but from what specs i have seen it looks like a cast wheel (not forged), and can't find any information on the weight either (although do have a phone call into Work - yet to return it though)
Any one have opinions on the Varianza T1S???
Thanks

T1S's are some great looking wheels especially in step lip. However, IIRC they have cast centers w/ forged barrels (correct me if I am wrong), so the wheels are much heavier than forged multi-piece wheels.
Great lookin wheels IMO. I'd def rock em on my G!

i love my T1S.. Great wheel but too many people have them now! I would shop around pick a diff style if i had the option like you right now. I must say its a pretty strong wheel im running stretched tire set up. And i hit a few pot holes(not huge but decent size) already. No bents
Coming from TSW wheels, anything should be an upgrade...zinger...no seriously though, Works are quality wheels. I wouldnt waste money on wheels like iForge or HRE unless I had lots of expendable income and wanted people to know it and if I did, it would probably on something different still. Works are nice, but they run heavy, more for show.

You have lots of research you need to do if you dont think step lips work with bbk's
Go to Works website and look at offset charts and come back with something you have an idead of
Most anyone here posting can give you an idea on fitment and what your trying to achieve

Quality is there, most definitely. I like many other wheels but it's going to be hard for me to switch over from Work because of their craftsmanship.
There is a reason why HRE wants to buy the barrels that Work uses, however, Work refuses.
Only had 1 issue with my T1S wheels and they are the rears. The inner part got bent, however, I'm running -7.5 camber on a 235/35. At one point it was a 225/35 and the tire deflated and it got a minor bend. Another time (other wheel) there was too much air pressure (over inflated because I figured it was colder weather so I should have a higher PSI) and I hit a pothole.
I've gone over NUMEROUS potholes, some VERY VERY VERY bad, and some very bad bumps in the road with that same camber with properly inflated tires with the same tire size and ZERO issues.
I have nothing bad to say about iForged, however, I don't feel that they are on the same level as Work. I may be biased, but I'm sure many people will agree with me that Work is amongst the top wheel manufacturers in the industry.

You don't get something for nothing. If you want the clearance for BBKs, then you aren't going to get the exaggerated step lip like the deep rim "O disk" versions of that wheel.
Actually, i've done my research. The person i spoke with at Works (direct support number) said they Big Brakes version "R disk" does have somehwhat of a "step lip", but not really a true exaggerated "step lip" which is apparent in the other disk configurations, and the type of "step lip" that people think about when they talk about "step lips."

Now, if you go with a 10.5 +0 with an O disk, you'll have a 5.3" lip. If you have a 10.5 +0 with an R disk, it will be less. To give a better idea, the largest lip size for a 20 x 10.5 step lip T1S is 153mm (or 6.02"). To obtain that much lip, with an O disk your offset will need to be -26. However, with an R disk, since you need a wider center hub, you need a -50 offset to get the same lip size. Basically, there is 24mm more clearance.
They barrels that they use are all the same. There are R disk T1S wheels and they look the same as any other disk T1S to me. I'd call Work again or just send them an email. With the email you'll be able to tell who it is, but maybe there was a misunderstanding?

Who did you speak with? The difference between the all the disks is the width of the center hub. BBK (R disk) wheels have a wider center hub so you get that clearance for the BBK.

I'll try emailing this time and see what they come up with. I think the guy's name with a spoke on the phone was Mike or Matt.
Anyways, i'm going to have my local (well two states away) performance shop do the install and let them figure all that complicated offset stuff out.
