Winter Setups
Since, i run summer's most of the year, i've decided that i'll put my winters on for the cold weather, whether or not i plan to drive in the snow. I drove my S14 in the snow and well after i lowered it, the centre of gravity just threw everything off and i couldn't do it anymore.
anywho, i was thinking of using the Sedan or Coupe's 17's and running a smaller tire like 205/55 front and 225/55 rear is this too thin? i dont want to run aynthing to wide cause i find it squirmy
what do you guys think? any suggestions?
Edit: I should mention i have a 04 coupe with brembos and i'm lowered 1-1.5"

also i do have spacers on anyhow, so i wasn't too worried about the offset of the wheels, but 17's do clear other wise right?

Drag DR31 (Work Kai reps) 18x9+15 matte black with red TA stripe (I wanted bronze but it was discontinued). Tires are Goodyear Eagle GT 245/45/18 all around. Little bit of rub in the front, but a 245/40/18 would be a better setup I guess. I sold my OEM coupe 18s, so these are now the "stock" wheels and I was able to clean up and repaint the OEM TPMS valves with them. They only see winter use, so I'm happy they're not as tucked as the OEM setup anymore.

Interesting, idrive. I like the winter setup, but do those Eagle GT's hook up in the ice and snow? I know living in MD you don't typically get huge snowfalls, but ice can be an issue, and if this winter is anything like last year in terms of snowfall...yikes. Then again, when it snows that much, I don't go out in my G either even with dedicated snow tires
I still have my OEM 18's sitting in the garage after getting a set of 19" OEM Rays this summer...maybe I should powdercoat them black and put snows on them instead. with my spacers, they won't be as tucked either.

Yeah I thought about doing the whole OEM painted with spacers deal, but these Drags were pretty cheap after rebates. I used these tires last year on the OEM wheels and managed pretty well.
Fortunately, my commute to work isn't anything challenging. The hardest part about getting to work in bad snowy/icy conditions is getting out of my poorly plowed or still snow'd in housing community. After that it is all major roads for 11-miles which are almost always clear. Otherwise, I just turn off the traction control and do a little clutch/gas modulation to get through the rough stuff.
This past winter with the BIG storms, I just didnt bother going anywhere with my car, but that is mostly because it took a while for our neighborhood to get plowed and the snow was half way up my bumper. Wife has an AWD SUV and I have leave I can take from work if I want to be lazy.
