offsets... lemme see if I got this right...

Ok, I'm having a hard time grasping this whole offset business... probably because I havent actually installed wheels with different offsets yet to see what it does.

The lower the number, the more it sticks out, right?

if I have a high number offset wheel(ex:+45), that's when I want to run spacers? So if I had a +45 offset, and ran a 25mm spacer, it would be like running a +25 wheel?

Yes, but you suck a subtracting.

If you have a wheel that is +45 and you add a 25mm spacer it's like adding that inch to the hub of the wheel. Giving you an effective offset of +20.

THINK OF IT THIS WAy..
if u draw 3 LINES Parallel TO Each (WITH SPace between them) other AND U MAke one of the lines the inside of the rim (the part THat is under the cAR) and the other line the lip OF THE RIM (THE Part that IS OUTSIDE) NOW THE LINE IN THE MIDDLE IS Called the center line. if u move the center (line 2) line more to line 3 that IS CHanging the off set from the center line.

which would mean MORE LIP (DEEP)

I'm going to draw a picture.

This is your wheel from behind on say the left of your car
| . | <---

The decimal equals 0 offset

If you move the decimal ---> you are lowering the offset

If you move the decimal <--- you are increasing the offset

yup I understand that. I'm sitting here going through the wheel fitment thread and trying to compare offsets, but what screws me up is two people will run the same size offsets, but they will look completely different.

I'm trying to figure out how many mm from factory I need to sit flush with the wheel wells on a coupe. I thought it was about 30mm, but I'm not positive. I'm looking at running a 19x8.5+20 front, and 19x9.5+20 rear. According to the calculator this will give me an extra 29mm from factory in the rear, which if it is right, would cause the wheels to sit pretty flush with the wells... I think...

I'm assuming you own a sedan?

The reason they look different is because the offset isn't the only thing that leads to how the wheel sits. The width of the wheel, how low the car is and the camber also changes it significantly.

no, coupe. I've been trying to compare like vehicles, with no/similar suspension mods.

I think I understand the whole spacer/offset stuff, I just dont know what I need to sit flush. Well, I'd actually like to stick out just a hair, maybe 1/4in with camber fix.

its some guys on here that can help u out with that.. WHEN I GOT MY RIMS I DIDN'T KNOW MUCH about the offset stuff. I have WEak offsets compared TO a lot of these guys but my rims ARE FLUSH WITH NO SPacers.

if u get the right offset u wont need spacers

I can only get these in a +20 offset for 19's

EDIT: Ahhh crap.... now I gotta start over... I read the wrong ones...I can only get them in a +35 offset

+20 isn't very flush... but it depends on your car height/camber/tire size/your idea of flush.

Tell me what you have done/what you plan to do suspension wise. AKA answer this

Lowered?
If yes, on what?

What wheels are you looking at?

I dont have anything done yet, but will have Tein Basics and front/rear cambers, with whatever specs I need. Just got the car little over a month ago, getting everything i need with taxes so it's ready by spring.
