Possible to fix this lip?

You cant tell from the pics but the lips on these wheels are pretty dull and def not as shiny as they should be. Took it in to ask if it can get refinished they said it cant because its a chrome plated lip and nothing you can do about it.. Is this true?

I don't think that is chrome... If it is chrome then it could be polished back to a lot better shine than what it is.. U need to find someone that specialize in wheels not even wheels but refinishing.. they would be able to tell u right off the bat

I did today. Took it to a shop that repairs and refinishes wheels and he said its chrome plated and if he were to try and sand it down it would turn goldish..

idk why everyone doesnt think its chrome if the manufacture said its a chrome stainless steel lip lol. He showed me if you tap on it you can hear that its a plate cause it has a hollowness sound to it..

he said nothing you can really do to fix them.. he said you can paint them or powder coat them.. thinking about changing up the colors of the wheels if I do that..

Flat black face maybe with a dark bronze kinda lip like this http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3360/...03920517_o.jpg What do you think?

I would go a mat black face or grey with a gloss/powder coated lip, but that's just me

gloss black, but silver wont be bad.. either one would work. if u decide to pain ya car another color they would both look nice.. especially the mat black and the black gloss lip

Your lips can be polished back using sandpaper, metal compound, metal polish, and fine polishing. This will make them look better than new if performed correctly.

The guy you took them too that said nothing can be done is an idiot.

They need to go through a chemical bath (AKA chemically stripped) to get the chrome off. Then you can polish the lips and then clear coat over the polished aluminum.

I hate chrome on wheels, it's just the cheap way to make them shine.
