Quick rant about spaced out 19" Rays

What the hell is up with the guys who run 30mm spacers on 19" rays and then make comment about how heavy some aftermarket wheels are going to be.

You're aware you're blowing out your hubs but running heavy spacers on your so called "light weight wheels"

Get off dat ****!

Just curious.... I got 25mm all around and was wondering how exactly will it blow out the hubs?

No flaming, just want to know lol.

^ It's really not that bad, running two sets of studs is like running two hubs on one, therefore more strain on the hubs themselves.

Na you didn't miss anything I just see a lot of noobs on here with 05/06 cars saying "you should just buy OEM 19s and run spacers, they look better and way less than those aftermarket ones"

Though I agree with the looking better thing the weight isn't always true.

spacers wont damage your hubs any more than low offset wheels. So far i havent heard of anyone having issues with their spacers.

Are you a doctor?

Running them in the long run will either demo the hub or blow through bearings, fact.

Not to question your fine judgement, cuz I'm in the same boat as Johnny when I had my OEM Rays (5 months to be exact), but is there a thread somewhere that has proven this?

Everyone here has their own opinion, which is fine, but some hard evidence to back up a claim never hurts.

I just wanna be educated a bit more, that's all.

Im pretty sure he is right about spacers putting more stress on the wheel hub, but its no different than running low offests. But I dont think the weight of the spacer has to do anything with it. What does a 30mm spacer weigh?

Are the spacers necessary for fitment (IE: clearing calipers, struts, shocks) or more for asthetic value? Was thinking about the coupe Rays or M45 19's, but really don't want to run spacers if not necessary, and rather not have to roll fenders. I'll be on a Z/G drop and not slammed, so is it mainly for flush appearance?

^ On a Z/G the Rays will give you flushitude without spacers.

Blain, you are the youngest crabby old man I know.

I don't see how it's more stress on a hub than heavy rims or low offset rims. The most stressed part would be the bolt on stud or extended stud.

I ran a 2" spacer on my last vehicle for over 1.5 yrs with no problem what so ever. I mean it's no different than someone who buys a heavy rim with low offsets. So if I had the 19" rays and the spacer weighing hypothetically 25lbs but another G owner has 19" with low offsets weighing 32lbs per rim. Who would wear out the hubs faster? I say as long as you keep them tight to the hub (I use lock tight to ensure max protection) there is no difference really to running them....but that's my opinion

+1 can anybody elaborate on how the spacers would stress the hub anymore than a low offset wheel?
