It is all about appearance, you sound like you want ZERO risk but look like a custom G' which needs some ***** to get the help it needs..

+40 is VERY conservative and safe. But why use a customized wheel to fit and look sunken-in to the the wheel well like OEM? Waste of effort IMO.

+35 is conservative. You will not have rubs on your OEM fender height or even if lowered 1" in the future the worst case is arrange to have the rear fenders flanges roll.

 

So +35mm will make the wheel stick out more? And u guys are saying it's safe??

 

Yes the lower the + offset number the further out the wheel will be pushed. +35mm will be pushed out further than +40mm.

 

+35(no lower) is still safe for the OP who has an 07 G. That is what I recommend for his G with 8.5" wide wheel.

So.... I went to go order the rims n tires. And they are telling me that these rims are not going to be 2" deep dish. With a 35mm or 40mm offset I'm only going to get maybe 1 inch?? Is that true guys. Now I really want to go with staggered but what r the pros n cons? And what is the specs for staggered rims on a 07 sedan?

 

Pros: You can run a wider rear tire and get a larger lip, plus IMO it looks good.
Cons: You cant rotate your tires and depending on what wheel widths you get, finding the right tires (front - back). But easily done with 19's/20's.

 

Sounds about right. The 8" +40 TSW I used to have had a 1.25" lip, and the 9.5" + 40 had a 2.75" lip.

For the wheels you want you are looking at a 1.5" lip for the 20x8.5. If you bump it up to a 20x9 you will have a 2" lip and 3.5" lip for the 20x10.

If you want some lips non staggered I would go with the 20x9's all around,
or 20x9 and 20x10.

Of if you find another wheel make, you could do 20x8.5 and 20x9.5

Just a few options. 19's will work the same way.

 

Thanks bro!! Ok so a couple of things.... 20x9 all around will give me a 2" lip.... I can do that.... Would u recommend to go with 40mm or 35mm offset? And if I do go staggered say 8.5 front and 9.5 rear what will the tire size be, and will the dealer give me crap for it... In case something happens pertaining to transfer case etc?

 

Just keep the front and rear diameters the same and you will have no issue.
For the 9" I would go for the +35mm offset.

Im not too familiar with 20" tire sizes, but I found some Hankook V4's 235/35/20 and 275/30/20 that would fit. They are within .07% of each other (26.49" vs 26.47").
