Rota Torque & Brembo?

Morning, gentlemen.

I've ventured over here from the Sentra forums, because nobody can answer my question. Since Brembo's were an option on the G35 at one point, I figured this was a good place to start. I've spent a good deal of time searching around but have found no concrete answers, so if it's a stupid question I apologize ahead of time.

I drive an 06 SpecV with Brembos, and the G35 shares the same caliper with similar rotor size. My rotors I believe are 305mm, and the G35 is almost 20mm larger. I've been looking at picking up Rota Torque wheels for a while, but I'm worried about clearance with the calipers. I want to avoid running a spacer at ALL costs. I figured if it fit the G35, there's no way I could go wrong.

The size I'm looking at is probably a 17x8, but I don't know what kind of offset I can get away with. There are only two available options for the offset, 35mm and 40mm. If I choose to go 17x7.5 I'm stuck with a 45mm offset, which I doubt will clear.

If anyone here can help steer me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

-QR25DE_SpecV

Brake clearance isn't measured through offset and width. It measured from pad size. Pad being the portion that protrudes out the back of the wheel and mounts to the hub.

Usually higher offset wheels have just a smaller pad so they can cut costs and just shave the pads face instead of making a separate wheel with different offsets.

The torque being a kip off of Work CR Kais, which have pretty good brake clearance makes me think that they will be big brake friendly. The 8 is definitely the way to go, no point buying aftermarket wheels if they are super thin anyways.

In my opinion, buy the +40 if they don't clear you'll just have to add a spacer. If they weren't Rotas you could just call the company and ask about brake clearance... unfortunately, nobody speaks English at Rota.

I've got good understanding of wheel offsets and what's needed for clearance, but I have no measurement data to work with, and nor would I now how to go about procuring it.

Is there a number for Rota USA?

Im not sure if this will help but the stock oem 18s that clear the brembos are 18x8 +33 but i do not remember how much clearance the OEM 7 spoke 18s had over the caliper.

i ran 19x8.5 with +25 offset and that cleared my brembos by 1mm maybe 2.

Can you find anyone with wheels you're looking for who will let you run a test fit?

I've never ever seen a set of wheels in this size and bolt pattern in my life.

Like I said, it's no about offset. You could get wheels 19x10 +35 Hi disk and 19x10+35 LO disk and only one would clear brakes... the other would have a big lip.

Rota doesn't have a phone number, I use to deal with them all the time. You phone and some Korean woman answer the phone and is usually pretty rude.

You best bet is to contact the guys at wheeldude.com and see if they know the brake clearance....

i've heard Z 17's dont fit over brembo's but i swear to god i put them on my G as roller wheels while it was in the body shop tho.

however, i could be wrong...

i think the limiting factor is that you wheel is only 8" in width, seems to me like the face of the caliper you see when looking at the side profile would scrape on the backside of your wheel spokes, however with the correct offset and no spacer, it should clear.

i think 4DGS is saying that the back half, the part where you change the pads, might possible scrape the INSIDE barrel of you wheel if it is too small.

dunno, just some good for thought and my two cents

Ahh, well they never speak English and are really short with you on the phone. I deal with French people on a daily basis so I have a great deal of patience, but they don't share that attribute lol
