Question Wheel, Tire, Size, Price! Cant choose HALP!

So I have several tire sized picked out. Help me chose what is best price / performance.

Car: 2004 Lazer Red Coupe. Stock suspension. 18" pizza cutters.
Daily driver. No performance parts. Not into racing..

Wheels I will be purchasing
XXR 521 Red Rivets 20" Either 10.5" or 8.5" width (undecided!) +30mm offset I believe
http://goo.gl/f7Cpt

Here is where my choice problems start. I really like Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires. I like the reviews, I like the look, and I like the idea of all season/weather

My problem is price, Check this out.
Btw: I would use Tire Rack, but the shipping charges outweigh the local pickup of Discount Tire.

Continental Extreme Contact DWS

20" 8.5 Front
245/35/20 $200 each
http://goo.gl/x9kof

20" 10.5 rear
275/30/20 $261 each
http://goo.gl/pI2j3

In my mind, that was going to be my front and rear. Cost would be about $1k for tires on the car after tax.

I'm ok with this, but check this out. I can't ignore this.

255/35/20 $171 each
http://goo.gl/i4Kx7

Cost would be $740 on the car after tax. The idea was to put these on all 4 corners and save some cash. I also have no idea what width wheels I should pick and if those would fit on the front of the car.

I need your help in choosing. I also want it to look good, and fairly flush. Doesn't need to be perfect. Also, Not a fan of the stretched look. edit: I can deal with it if I have to.

Thanks.

20s are for show and 19s are for go.
Granted the XXRs are pretty heavy wheels, but the 19s will still be lighter.
With those high offsets ur def going to need some wheel spacers.
Esp in the front, the 8.5" wheel and +30mm offset will be pretty tucked in.
Are you going to be dropping ur ride at all?

I have thoughts of coilovers but I'm not planning.

I'm in it for show rather than. go.

Any thoughts in 255 all the way around?

If those are the wheels you want and the offsets are 30mm I would go with the 8.5F and 10.5R with 245/35 and 275/30. Add about 10mm spacer for the rear and 25 for the front.

I didn't realize spacers are so expensive. I'm looking around and they look to be about $150 each for 25mm.

I'm still thinking about the 255's all around and saving ~$300. That could help with the spacer price.

You can find them cheaper than that. I think I paid $109 for my first set and $75 for my second.

Either set of wheels you go with you will want spacers.

255s would be a stretch on 10.5. It wouldn't be an extreme stretch but most people put 275 or 285s on a 10.5 wheel.

I totally misread his prior post. I took it as him going with 8.5's front and rear.

+1 on the 255's being a stretch on the 10.5. I am running 255's on a 10 and it's a little stretch. OP you can run the 255's all around, but you are going to want a lot lower offset and a drop to close in the fender gap. A stretched tire on a set-up that doesnt need it looks really dumb.

Also Discount tires will match any price. I got my Nitto 555's 245/35/20 and 255/35/20 for just over $600 installed out the door. I found the tires online cheaper which saved me about $30 per tire compared to their price.

Thanks for the reply.

I was looking to save a few hundred on tire cost by doing the 255, but I agree, a stretched setup may seem silly when its not needed.

Maybe my choice in tire is what is bad...

Check here http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.p..._s=3&s_p=Tires

I didnt look through all their tires/brands but if you do order from discount tires see if this place carries the same tire and ask Discount to match them. That will save you some money.

I found some 265/30/20 General Exclaim UHP for $114 that im tempted to try. I want a slightly shorter sidewall and slightly wider tire if I can make it fit, and at $275 (shipped) for two tires it might be worth giving them a shot.

I need to stay off this site, I spend way too much money because of it...

Thanks for all the replies.

Since I'm running 20", I want some sidewall, I figure I would bump the tire height a bit.
the DWS are known for their soft sidewall and soft feeling. Think this would accomplish a smooth ride and fill the gap without issues.

Will I encounter fitment or rubbing issues with these sizes?

245/40/20 x 8.5 +30mm offset

and

275/35/20 x 10 +32mm offset

You could, but those are going to be some tall tires at 27.71" front and 27.57" tall rear. If you want sidewall for comfort 20's arnt for you. I would recommend 18's or 19's. You could run those sizes in a 19 and be fine, but 20's with those tires will make your car look like a 4x4.

That throws a wrench into it.
Well If it helps any I am running 245/35/20 and 255/35/20 and I have noticed very little if any change in ride quality compared to the 255/35/19 and 225/40/19 I ran before. The sidewalls are very similar.

That is nice to know.

I see a picture in the XXR 521 thread of someone running 285/35/20 and it doesn't look all that tall.

I guess in person it's different.

I know it a hassle, but I wonder if I can have one of the shops could put them on and I could see how they look.

Going from stock 18" to 20" Will it really be that noticeable in ride quality? Especially running Continental DWS 20". They are known for being softies.
