My goal is to get a tire (has to be available in a 225/40/19) with great grip for aggressive street driving and some time on the track, but that is relatively quiet for normal DD under $250 each. I also want a symmetrical tread design so I can swap them side to side. The Invos would work due to the harder compound on the inside of the tires offsetting the need for a symmetrical design. Looks like the NT05 and Invo both fit that description, with the NT05s having better performance and the Invos lasting longer and having better street manners. Decisions, decisions..........

almost fits the description

in all honesty 225/40/19 RS3s are $235 a tire, and are WAY better then NT05s when it comes to grip, they are comparable to NT01s in times are the track.
just a thought.

The invos can't be flipped though they're only one direction I had some before they're very sticky IMO they also smell a bit different than other tires for some reason. But by far the best sticky tires I've owned were the Goodyear Eagle F1 tires those things were beast!
Yeah I know that the Invos can't be flipped hence my comment about them fitting my criteria due the the tougher inside material. The Eagle f1s are also out of my price range.

Sometimes it sucks being so picky.

Yep for the fronts. I run coupe sizes: 225/40/19F and 245/40/19R
I think I'm going to go with either the Invos or the NT05s at this point. I still have a lot of tread left on the rear tires so I need to burn through those anyway before I have to make a final decision so I've got a little time.

Toyo T1 Sport are Toyo T1R both come in 225 40 19 and 245 40 19, there is also bridgestone RE001 which also comes in that size. I am thinking of getting the Toyo T1 Sport as they are the same price as V12s in New Zealand and seem to get better reviews. Can't offer a personal opinion of them though.

I think the Invos are my leading choice ATM. They seem to be a good compromise between handling, ride comfort, and wear. BUT the damn NT05s look sooooo good on a car.
Im still in amazement that this is happening. Have you considered stepping up to a 255 wide rear for a bit more grip surface? I think there is a thread somewhere around here about wide tires on OEM 19s you should look into.
With my near stock power levels and wider contact patch I dont think I'll ever have a problem randomly breaking traction like that during DD use with my V12s.

I can't go with a wider tire and keep my fitment on point w/o inducing more negative camber which I'm not willing to do. And the traction issue isn't just on straight line acceleration, I drive a lot of hilly country roads and I have issues keeping my footing on them as well in the twisties. I'm starting to wonder if I just got a funky set of rear tires.
Oh well, Invos here I come.

Hankooks are hard tread soft sidewalls.
Therefore shitty traction and bad launching.
The V12s are NOT a performance tire, they are an acceptably good cheap tire, if you want comfort, quality and traction, buy some Michelin PS2.
Will, never recommend FK452s again and do not group them with any kind of quality tire like invos and PS2s.
If you want quality tires buy Euro or Japanese, because you won't find it in Korea or Taiwan.
BTW, you'll like the invos, the tread looks sketchy for rain but the 275s on the Z stick great in wet weather.

I bought the Hankooks knowing they weren't the best performance tire, but they have really good reviews in several car magazines and Tire Rack for handling and grip. But lesson learned, once you add more power to the G they don't grip so well.
Thanks for the support of the Invos Blaine, I was at Uprev today getting a re-flash and one of their techs was bashing them hard for having no traction until they got really hot. So I was back to leaning towards the NT05s, now I'm just confused again.
Good news though is I don't think I can go wrong with either.
