First ever issues with my Hankook V12s
Updated 09/28
In the last few months I have gotten tuned with Osiris and added a MD VQ exhaust and I'm having traction issues. I drive an 05 sedan with a 5AT, intake, plenum spacer, and I'm slightly out of spec on camber in the rear.
The tires are relatively new with 7/32's left and when I get on it I'm breaking free all the time at speeds up to 40. I went to pass a truck/trailer on the service road to the freeway today, stomped on it at 40 in drive and the back end let loose, smoked the tires a little, and fishtailed until I let up. VDC was off of course.
Needless to say my first reaction was a big smile, but I need more traction than that since I plan to track my car soon. Also it's been hot as hell here so the tires should be extra sticky because the roads are scalding hot.
I was looking at replacing the Hankooks with Yoko S Drives, had them on a previous car and they were grippy as hell, but they don't offer a 225/40/19 which I need to keep my fitment on point up front. So does anyone have suggestions on a grippy UHP summer tire that's relatively quiet for under $250? With my camber and the fact I drive between 18-20K miles a year spending $400 each on tires isn't an option.
Thanks for reading this long post and let me know your thoughts.
UPDATE
I think I have figured out the issue. I just got back from a 3900 mile road trip out to Cali and back and drove in a variety of weather conditions. I didn't have as much of an issue with slippage in the cooler climates, but could replicate it in Phoenix when it was 108. I now think my issue is temperature related as we've had a brutal summer in Austin. Fell in love with the tires again on the road trip. They performed like they did when I bought them and that made me smile.

What you putting down? I have all seasons and in the dry they can keep the grip in a straight line, the V12 are nice tires so I wonder whats going on?
Have you tried doing something like that again? Might just been a bad part of the road.
Also IIRC you do not want normal street tires to get too hot they actually loose grip.

That's strange I love my v12's and they seem grippy as hell to me. Try Sumitomo HTR-Z, Falken 452's, Michelin Pilot Sport, Hankook RS3, Nitto Invo. All decent tires but they all seem to be just as sticky if not less sticky than V12's.

I didn't know about the heat/traction thing, thanks for the info. That might have something to do with it as well as my rear camber, but RC is at -1.8 which leaves most of the tread planted.
Edit: I'm only putting down 250/232 but that was before the exhaust. I have an appointment with Uprev next week for a re-flash to see what the exhaust added.

Also, I'm limiting myself in my search because I want tires with symmetrical tread so I can pull them and swap them side to side every 8K miles to combat my slight camber wear.
Thanks for the suggestions.

J/K I know that has a little to do with it, but my camber's been where it is for a year and this didn't happen before the tune and exhaust. I can take off in MM and if I shift right I can bark 2nd every time. And no I don't have the Transgo, that's a stock 5AT with 92K miles on it.

Even though those are all-seasons they intrigue me. Have you ever run them? They fit all of my criteria except for being a summer tire and I'm not hung up on that.
